A picture is worth a thousand words…
Please, attach a screenshot when posting a message in the Wikidot forum to make it easy for those who would like to help you to understand what you are referring to. This page is meant to guide you in that process and also serve as a convenient storage place for screenshots.
How to:
It may seem complicated at first but it's really simple. You can learn it in no time:
MS Windows
(1) Go to the page you want to ask about.
In your brower click "View", then "Full screen".
(2) Hit the "Print Screen" key.
(found in the right part of your keyboard)
(3) Open MS Paint.
(If you do not know how to find MS Paint: "Start" button > "Programs" > "Accessories" > "Paint".)
(4) In MS Paint click Ctrl + V.
The screenshot should appear now.
(5) You can use the drawing tools to encircle the problematic area with colour or highlight it visually in some other way.
(6) "Image" > "Stretch/ Skew…"
=> where it's written "Horizontal" and "Vertical" choose some smaller percentage until the picture is small enough but still readable.
It is important to diminish the size of the image because large images load slower and take up too much screen space.
(7) "File" > "Save as…"
=> Choose JPEG and name the image this way: yourusername_imagename
(E.g. "mike_screenshot1" where "mike" is your Wikidot username.)
(8) Upload the image in this page.
(9) Attach the image to your post by inserting this code:
[[image http://community.wikidot.com/local--files/forum-screenshots/yourusername_imagename.JPG]]
Of course, on place of "yourusername_imagename.JPG" you must put the actual file name of the image.
Mac OS
(1) Push Command + Shift + 3 to take a screenshot of the whole screen
The screenshot will automatically be saved on your desktop. Also, Command + Shift + 4 will let you select the part of the screen you need.
(2) Follow steps (8) and (9) of the MS Windows section.
