Please Note: The discussion about this thread (its layout, its purpose etc.) will take place in this thread. The comments you make in this thread, should only be suggestions you want me to add to the list; nothing else. Any other kind of discussion will take place in the seperate thread for the time being. There is a whole lot to sort out, so let's try to stay as organized as possible.
The Purpose of this thread
A while back, I suggested that Michael should get some community managers who could make his life easier by sorting things out in the forum among other tasks. I have taken the liberty of pursuing my own suggestion without Michaels concent. I have by no means taken the role as community manager, I've only completed one of the tasks that a CM should/could have been doing. I can only hope that Michael doesn't mind me doing so. Considering the fact that I have not yet discussed this with Michael, means that this is not really the official suggestions-thread, but in my opinion that was the most fitting name by far, and I am hoping that the name will get a true meaning later.
So, what I've done here so far is that I've gathered all of my own suggestions so far that I had lying around, and I put them up more neatly into this table. As time goes by, I will add any suggestions made by those who can bother to stop by and drop me a few lines.

Sadr | 190607.1.0 | New permission for section-editing. | Make a new permission, called section-editing. This way, you can select certain sections that are not possible to edit unless you have the needed permissions. | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 190607.1.1 | Sectionfolding | Just like sectionediting, there could be a section-folding option, but this could be available for all. It's as simple as this: Wherever there's a heading (i.e. a section) there will be a small button next to it allowing you to fold that section, making only the headline visible. Maybe the moderator could have an extra option, that would say "fold by default" or something, that would cause this topic to always be folded when page is entered. Maybe this could even be the start of an easy way of hiding things. | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 190607.2.0 | Statusbar in backupprogress | Would be quite nice if the backupprocess could have a simple statusbar while processing the backup. Just like showing % done of backupprogress. | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 180607.1.0 | Integrating login with other softwares | Could it be possible to somehow integrate the login on this kind of site with other webprograms, like forums and CMSystems? Like, as soon as you log in at Joomla!, you're logged in here as well. | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 170607.1.0 | Alter the (+++) heading | Make the (+++) heading different. It's way too thin. IMO, there should be an option to do just that. Like (+) for thick headings, and (¤) or (¤+) or something for thing headings. Would also be nice to be able to put headings in the middle. | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 170607.1.1 | No forced new line after headings | I think that headings shouldn't force an extra enterspace (ehm, dunno exactly what it's called). I often like to add a little something in italics right under the heading, like a description. With this big gap that can't be erased, the minidescription ends up just looking like a standalone line belonging to nowhere. | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 170607.2.0 | More options to tables | Add more options to the tables. Like invisible columns. I want to be able to make a standalone column in the middle of a line of columns, without having to make 1 empty one first. | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 170607.3.0 | Adding "child pages" | "Add child page". Somewhere (like where the options and edit button is) there could be a button called "add child page" which would start a new page, just that it would be a childpage of the one you're currently viewing. So that if I was on somesite.com/suggestions the new page would come under somesite.com/suggestions:<newpagename> | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 170607.4.0 | Autoparenting | Autoparent: Every link that is made like "…doc:blabla" would be assigned the proper parents. A selfadded parent would override this action, and would not be changed unless you check a box that could say "override custom parents" or something. | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 170607.5.0 | "Fix dependencies" as default | Make "try to fix dependencies" a default option, making the boxes checked already. | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 100607.1.0 | Section-editing by doubleclicking | Feature from mediwiki: Add section-editing by doubleclicking. (Could be made optionable). | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 100607.2.0 | FrontForum improvement | Would be nice if the comments in the FrontForum module didn't direct you to the forum, but instead just opened on the same page, like when you fold/unfold the replies to comments in the normal commentsmodule on a normal page. | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 100607.3.0 | Additional kind of commentsmodule | A new kind of comments module, that can be added several places on the page. So that you can start a new discussion under every new subject started on the same page. Don't understand? Let's say I have two headings on a page. "Cars" and "Boats". I don't want to make a seperate page for these two subjects, but I want the visitors to be able to discuss the two subjects seperately. So I add commentsmodule#1 under "Cars", and commentsmodule#2 under "Boats". | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 100607.4.0 | showadmin="true" | In addition to the hidden="true", add something like showadmin="true". This would cause for example the comments module to become completely invisible and unusable for restricted members, allowing the admins to do some private discussion regarding the thread. Should of course work with other modules as well. | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 100607.4.1 | showadmin="true"#2 | Another option could be to rename the hidden="true" to fold="true", and add hidden="true" (or invisible="true" for that matter). | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 100607.5.0 | Autolinking of words. | You could make a list in the site manager, where you could add automatic links to certain words. This would again have to be activated at those pages where you want it, if you don't set it on as default. A link set to that name would override the autolink. I've seen this on other wikis, so maybe it's implemented here already but I just haven't found it?.. Type1: You add like [[autolink|theword]]. Type2: You go options, and you select "do autolinks" or something like that. | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 100607.6.0 | Online/offline status | Something like the info-icon on the forum (the smiley) could also show if the user is logged on or not by changing appearance, like fading into grey when logged off. In addition to that, it could be added in the text when holding the mouse over it. | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 100607.7.0 | Different symbols for unordered nesting/listing | Make it possible to use different symbols for unordered nesting, like "-" and "!". | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 100607.7.1 | Custom list-symbols | Maybe add the possibility to make your own custom symbols. So that when I listed something with "-" or "+" there would be a red minus icon for "-", and a greed plus icon for "+". | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 100607.7.2 | Mixed symbols in lists | Make it possible to nest "*" listings with "-" listings. So that on top you can use a "*", but in the nested ones below, you use "-". | Awaiting Reply |
Sadr | 100607.7.3 | Custom ordering in ordered lists | Make it possible to add custom numbers/letters to ordered lists. I.e: 1. <some content> 2. <some content> 2. <some content> 2. <some content> 3. <some content>. Or 1a. <some content> 1b. <some content> 2. <some content> 3a. <some content> 3b. <some content> | Awaiting Reply |
jurrie | 251006.1.0 | Auto-enable 'edit sections' | Make "edit sections" on by default. | In Progress |
Sadr | 140607.1.0 | An example rejected suggestion | Too bad, but this suggestion was not useful / too hard to make / too similar to something that already exists or is in progress… | Rejected |
