Hello there,

We are working on the same page together, each of us working on a different section. We use the 'edit sections' mode for this. There is one annoyance though: we need to scroll down, click 'options', click 'edit sections' and scroll back up again before we can make even the tiniest edit. Is there an option to have 'edit sections' automatically enabled for a page? Why is it even disabled by default? Why is it even possible to enable/disable it? You don't loose any functionality if you enable 'edit sections'.

Hi,

this ndeed is annoying… Perhaps I would make a keyboard shortcut to enable sections editing? The reason not to enable this by default is that some people do not want to make the page look like a Wiki, full of "edit" buttons.

Currently there is also a new editor coming and a better way of editing, both whole pages and sections.

So - I will make a keyboard shortcut asap and work hard on a new editor which should be ready in a month or two.

Just wanted to put in another vote for this feature. Either a keyboard shortcut or a per-user setting to always display the "edit section" links would be nice.

Ok, the next revision of the editor (on my dev server) already has it! Just some time before I complete it, test it and upgrade!

You could make an option to only show the edit-buttons for the ones who can actually edit the present page. And I think this should be on by default.
So, if the pagecreator really wants to see what the page looks like without the edit buttons all over it, he can simply scroll down to options and press "hide edit-section buttons". Or he can do the keyboard shortcut of course. But I really think it should be on by default.

Also, how about borrowing one of mediawiki's features:
Start a section-edit by doubleclicking the desired section (i.e. the heading or the content below it). In mediawiki it is off by default, and made optional, since it requires the use of javascript. I quite like this feature (a project I recently became a member of is using mediawiki) though, so I turned it on. It's a little bit tacky sometimes though, but you should really try it out.

Always on with the already built link! double click is used to select a word, using it for editing is an unexpected behaviour IMO..

Another vote for being able to permanently enable the edit sections. Perhaps an option in Site Manager?

Cannot add admins or moderators

This sounds trivial but I've spent an hour trying to find a way to add an admin / moderator to my site in vain.
In the documentation, all it says is that one can add an admin or moderator.
However, in Site Manager, the only options available are List Admins and once inside, you can only remove existing admins… you cannot ADD admins..

This should be fixed soon.

go to "list members"
click on options by the member that you want to add. click "to admins"
job done?

But i have now a perhaps sillly question too :

if i click on the options beside my posts a little morr toggled buttons appear:

permanent link | edit | delete

My Question : what is the idea behind permanent link ?

I would like to know the philosophy about such a "button"

It seems to miss a "glossar" in such a wikifarm ?
( i had a look now in the wikipüedia and found permalink as for the idea to have independent link-names (not the url with version number or date and time inside.. I do not really understand the difference …)
