I would love a feature like this:

i have a table, in each cell i have a word. when you click on the word, a little pop-up appears with some text in it (or big, depending on text). this way you can browse through the cells, and expanding them for lots more info, without expanding the table.

there is similar functionality in the wikidot user icons. when you browse over it, you get an enlarged popup.

use footnotes :-)
hard way
create your table and popups in html, then iframe it :-))

Two quick questions on this.

1: Is there a way to change the footnote numbering (I'm guessing not, since it is an obvious feature for footnotes)?

2: Is there any way to remove the footnotes from the page completely? So that it only shows in the pop-up, not at the bottom. I thought that's what did, but it's making the footnotes appear immediately on the page.

hmm, i suppose without the actual footnotes, there is no way to select the footnote text, or click on anything in it.

You can "hide" the footnotes under collapsible blocks…. see the snippets for this…:

You can use this with the [[footnoteblock title="Custom title"]] hidden inside a collapsilbe block anywhere ( at the bottom of your page i think)…

like typically such one:

[[collapsible show="+ show the hidden footnotes" hide="- hide the footnotes"]]
[[footnoteblock title=""]]
[[/collapsible]]

I would love to see a mouse over pop-up for dictionary type word. Perhaps something like this;

A computer has a [[dictionary 'CPU' "Central Processing Unit blah blah blah"; style="width: 5%; border: 1px solid silver; padding: 1%"]] in it.

and when you mouse over the word 'CPU' it brings up a small (user defined, which would allow for multiple lines of text) box with the definition (or perhaps a link or something)

What do you think?

Why not use footnotes or Bibliography - it has the same effect! ( and hidden under collapsible block…)
