Image-intensive wikis can't host all their images on-site, but unless the users are using Flickr, it is difficult to build a gallery of the off-site images. The work-around is to use a table, manually re-size each image, and manually provide a link to each image. Can we update the [[gallery]] tag to support off-site, non-Flickr images? And include an option to automatically link to the original, full-size image?
You can already use:
[[gallery]]
: url
: url
: url
[[/gallery]]
As a means of avoiding tables, though I'm not sure it can pull it's resizing magic in that instance.
And I assume, for "automatic" linking, support would have to be included on a image site-by-image site basis. I don't think you could build universal support for all image sites.
Support for Picasa Web Albums has already been suggested (rate it up if it suits you). What particular service would you like to see supported?
Sorry, this does not work with URL's outside the wiki! ( or are not Flickr:id's )
If [[gallery]] is invoked with a list of images, only these images are displayed. image-source must not be a URL in this case.
Tested it - it does not work wiith images stored on other wikis and inserted with URL….
You have to use the image tag…..
Service is my success. My webtips:www.blender.org, www.zusi.de (Demo-Video)
