Seems like very few wikizens are ready to use RSS. For all its issues, email is still the way to connect with most of my users.

I've figured out how to iframe a feedblitz form (in html) that lets people submit their email to get updates to one certain thread or to all threads.

But now I'd like to offer the same form automatically in every thread, so that anyone can get emailed notices when there are new comments to their thread.

The URL to a new feedblitz subscription is like this

I'd like to insert my iframed html form in forum:thread. It should detect the "t-#" of any particular thread, so it can insert that number into a custom URL. It sounds kind of like a regex — too complicated for me.

The form would be nice, but an automated link would do the trick too.

Hey all you wikidot community problem-solvers… Hopefully this post finds its way through the throngs of pro-feature volunteers!

Wouldn't it be cool, within any discussion thread, to give your users an easy option to get emailed updates? Sure, it's pretty easy to do it in RSS, but that's an unfamiliar challenge for most. Why not let feedblitz bridge that techno-gap? All we need is a way to automatically insert the thread number into a feedblitz subscription:

pumpkinheadgiant has a great idea (and a great name to boot).

Seems like we're almost there. If only there were a way to auto-insert any given thread number in this feedblitz URL:

I've hoped for this for ages. Wouldn't it be cool if anyone posting a comment could get updates emailed to them? I know this is available for Wikidot members with the right Watching settings, when a thread belongs to a page. But what about everyone else, and what about standard discussion threads in the forum?

I tried setting up a forum:_template to insert this link:

But it doesn't work, because %%fullname%% picks up "forum:thread", not "forum/t-######"

Is there another "listpagey" way I can detect the URL of a discussion thread and splice it into the root for the feedblitz query?

C'mon — we've talked about this since The Beginning of Time. Maybe it's tough to make dynamic thread-based email subscription happen using in-house resources. But feedblitz is right there, and all they need to make this work is the thread ID#. In the summary header for each thread, can't we please just insert a icon under the one, with a link to the customized feedblitz subscription?

I've lost track of where The Powers That Be pay attention to feature suggestions. If there's a better place to put this, please let me know.
