Something to parse icalendar files
Calendar module

It would be great, if we can display calendars based on ical files. I came across this idea, when I tried new Mozilla Sunbird 0.3. I will appreciate, if I can edit events in pretty environment in this desktop app and then post it to wiki. It would be great for multiple calendar publishing too. There is one possibly useful parser of icals - Icalendar.

Thanks in advance,

Milhaus

Another option can be let users simply embed Google Calendar by Google embeddable Calendar helper. But I like the first option personally better.

thanks for the suggestion. the calendar module is certainly one of the extensions that workgroups would like very much. however this imho would have to wait until the open source version of wikidot is released so more people would work on this.

I was not aware that one can embed the google calendar. but it is quite easy to add and I have just enablem google calendar inclusion via the [[embed]] tag. You can just generate the code from the site you have given (or by following instructions here: http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=41207

and embed it easily:

[[embed]]
generated code goes here.
[[/embed]]

good luck! I hope this solves the calendar problem a bit ;-)

I'm not sure what icalendar files are - but I've tried the Google Calendar application and it's lacking functionality in adding/modifying events by site members.

I've got a wiki setup for a D&D group and it would be nice to display events any user can create/modify/append info to. Google Calendar is lacking in our needs and I know of no other solution short of writing an application from scratch and hosting it on another server altogether.

It is possible to make a page for each week, and use the live templates and listpages module to generate a table with a cell for each day showing the newest few weeks of information. At least I think you could do that, but I haven't used the new template system.
