Thank-you, mmclean89. That was really helpful. From that I also hid the user name for anonymous comments, so now you can click on "anonymous" and get the IP from there.

Do you have to place that code somewhere specific in the CSS, under a particular heading, or can it go anywhere?

(For those of you reading from the recent comments page, I'm asking about the hide ip address code for CSS)

Of course, that doesn't really get rid of it — it's still right there if anyone looks. So in a way, it's worse: the IP address is still revealed, but the average commenter might not know that this data is exposed.

Oddly enough, that code didn't even not display the IP right out on the surface.

I'm using my own mild modifications of Shiny as a theme, and I tried moving the block to multiple place. In neither case did it mask the of anonymous posters.

In this most recent attempt I put it just under the common heading

try just

.printuser .ip {
display:none;
}

Thanks for that explanation. The comments I would see free are the comments on the normal pages. No problem with the Forum.

All comments are "landing"on Forum category "Per Page Discussions" !

That means, if you want them open, than you have to define in the forum permissions under the Page category ( like _default, blog a.s.o., ) that anonymous are able to post in the per page discussions.

Hello… I try in english version of wikidot - the same problem - there aren't info about anonymously users IP… :/
