Workaround for subcategories?

To associate special parts within category with a special template I very much would like to create subcategories. That's not possible, right? Do I have to create single categories for each and every part of my wiki I would like to associate a template to? Is there an obvious and clever workaround I don't get.

I'm very new to wikidot, wikis and any sort of programming. So if anyone just states the obvious, that will probably be of great help to me.

I do not understand the rtequest….

YOu can always build categories like cata-suba, cata-subb cata-subc, catb-suba, - ubb and so on.

Than you have to build ( or cpopy) a "-template" called page for every category "cata-suba, cata-sbb) which uses this template..

And if you need a listing splitted by "Prime" category - you can always use the list-allpages module with the eselection of 1-n categories to show ( + tag-list ( +,-) selected )..

I do not really understand where the prlems lies.

Off course: the permissions are a little bit more - you have in reality than a lot of categories.

But this you will have with sub categories anyway…

Allright, thanks a lot.

Of course I thought of cat-suba cat-subb solution. I just thought there might be an elegant way of avoiding giving lots of different permissions and creating lots of templates.

The problem is:
Say I want all the pages of cata to use one -let's say basic template, but then cata-suba use some specialties added to the template on top / cata-subb use some other specialties, and so on. If I later I wanted to modify something in the basic template settings, I would have to this for all my -sub templates instead of modifying it once.

This is an intrsting question :

Can we use live-templates ( "cata:_template" which itself is a page including live templates
from "cata-suba:_template"
and
from "cata-subb:_template"
and son on ?

Including technic does not work normally "over" templates - means you cannot include a page which uses _live templates itself…
but can work inside the pages - you can use include tag in the %%ciontentnn%% place holders…

Hope I am here clear enough what I mean to use?

Split the _templates into sections ( could be done later always if this works)… of the sub- categories…
