To edit a custom style, following the suggested way of editing, you have to open two pages. It is not much, but when making frequent small changes it starts to annoy.
I know the howto says
The “save theme” function will not export the code back in your CSS wiki-page but record the content of the box as a custom theme.
and may be there are technical reasons for this feature working the way it does.
But an export button would be great if not awesome. ( at least for completness :-)
I would like to be able to edit permissions regarding who can look at certain pages. Essentially, I would like to be able to make part of my wiki public and make the rest private.
Vote for that feature here
I'd really like to be able to change the content of the standard divs that make up a page. I don't need this feature for every page, just to increase flexibility for the basic design.
For example, I'd like to be able to insert some text or a link into one of the header divs such as #header-extra-div-1 or to change the text in the div #page-title into being H1 level text.
This might be implemented across a whole wiki site through the admin:manage page.
This would increase the flexibility in design a great deal. It would also allow for site owners to do work on accessibility (which is currently very difficult to improve).
This seems so obvious perhaps it simply hasn't been implemented because it isn't possible.
Could we PLEASE have a misc item listing at the top. how else are we to find those pages like blood line, rank, or the arena page that is there, but is very hard to find, and doesn't seem to show up on the search.
for eg, to find the tournament info, i searched for tournaments, found a giveaway prize, there found the link to arena page, but not the tournaments. This is the first time i have ever even been able to find the arena page! and i still haven't found the tournament page. i shouldn't have to look through 10 pages to get one page that isnt' listed. if i click arena tag, it only comes up with the items given away there, not the page it's self.
there needs to be a misc items menu at the top with everything else. PLEASE!
You appear to have accidentally wondered away from the content site you meant to post at, and are now located at the general wikidot community forums.
I would like to be able to embed my bloglines blogroll into my wikidot site.

And, if not that, then using Google Reader (and the associated gadget) would be okay. But that doesn't seem to work either.

In the future, your request may get better attention if you create a new thread. This one was not designed for requests.
Can you post the embed code bloglines gives you here? At the least you can load it into an html file, upload it to a page on your wiki, and then iframe it into the page. However, if the bloglines code uses the html version of iframe, you can simply use wikidot's [[embed]] tag. If you'll post the code they give you, I can help you figure out how to put it on your wiki.
Here's the different codes that I use:
[[iframe http://www-personal.umich.edu/~samoore/teach/bit330f08/blogroll.html scrolling="yes" frameborder="0" border="0" width="30%" height="420px" style="face: Arial; font-size: 10pt;"]]
[[embed]]
<iframe width="30%" height="600px" scrolling="yes" frameborder="0" border="0" src="http://www-personal.umich.edu/~samoore/teach/bit330f08/blogroll.html" style="face: Arial; font-size: 10pt;"></iframe>
[[/embed]]
[[embed]]
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://rpc.bloglines.com/blogroll?id=samoore&target=_top"></script>

The first two work now (thanks to your help!). I did not know about the way to put the code in a separate HTML page and then using iframe to embed that page. Useful trick. :)
The third one says "Sorry, no match for the embedded content."
The fourth one says "Sorry! Cannot render inline-required gadgets in an iframe."
The fifth one says "Information is temporarily unavailable."
So, I'm satisfied but I wanted to let you know the status. Again, thanks for your help. (I'll also try to follow protocol better next time.)

Glad you got it working. [[embed]], for future reference, will only work if the external site's code begins with <iframe, or if it's been specifically supported by wikidot. When it begins with <script or something else, you have to pull the [[iframe]] trick.
We're easy-going here, so it isn't a matter of protocol. But sometimes questions tucked away in odd threads get passed over. If this were a weekday or something with higher traffic, I might have missed the question.
Here are the links:
http://www.squark.pl/dev:8 — mp3 player
http://www.squark.pl/dev:9 — video player
Both are done by putting the "invisible" (collapsible without labels — thanks to Helmuti for the hint) code (now visible for you) and iframe. *.swf, *.js and media files are uploaded to these pages and linked absolutely.
Mp3 player is working ok, but I can't make video player to work with other formats thean *.flv. It is stated on it's page that it should work with mp4, but it's not. Maybe I had corrupted mp4 files with some strange coding/codecs?
Here are the links for the players:
http://www.macloo.com/examples/audio_player/
http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?item=JW_FLV_Player
Do you think I should put in on the snippets?
What is more important.: we want to implement similar player (to the the second one) in Wikidot. It could play most of media (music, video, jpg, png etc.) and it would behave like a module with easy syntax (if the files are attached to the current page):
[[module MediaPlayer autoplay="yes" loop="yes" mute="no" quality="yes" backcolor="white"
screencolor="black" frontcolor="black" lightcolor="black" shuffle="no" volume="100%"
width="320px" height="240px" logo="squarkplayer.png"]]
1.mp3
2.mp3
3.mp3
4.flv
5.flv
[[/module]]
This is great Squark. I really support the concept of having a module for audio and video as it means that you don't need to rely on embedding inside an iframe or dealing with local javascript files etc. The way I have done it up to now is by using sproutbuilder at http://sprout.com to either create an swf of an individual track or an swf containing lots of tracks, and then embedding the swf inside an iframe. You can do a similar thing with video and sprout seems slightly easier than the links you gave.
But it isn't as good as having a proper MP3 player on the wiki. So a module would be great.

yes! :-)))
Summary:
There's a lot happening recently in Wikidot. Michał is finalizing the payments and giving the last shines to new features available soon. […]
The most important thing I wanted to say is about my idea, a new look on the theme case. Now new users have only few themes from default list […] More advanced users could get know about themes.wikidot.com or make their own CSS styles. Nevertheless the whole look on the themes is not convenient […].
That's why I made a proposition […]
There is a new feature in gallery module. By default, it's using LightBox now, but you can turn it off if you don't like (but I doubt it :P).
You can look how it works, take a look at my page and click on some images:
Please, could you include support for Hitslog and/or SiteMeter?!!! I had posted the code before you revamped the "Embedding Code" page….
But here it is again…..

Have you tried to reach this with howto:use-html-scripting ?
Should be possible!

I attempted to use the "tutorial" there, yes. But can't for the life of me figure it out. I will keep trying.
I finally got it working - Thank You!!
Additionally, I may have missed it, but I have not yet found a way to embed CCL code:
<a rel="license" href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/us/"><img alt="Creative Commons License" style="border-width:0" src="http://i.creativecommons.org/l/by-nc-nd/3.0/us/88x31.png" /></a><br />This work is licensed under a <a rel="license" href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/us/">Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License</a>.
To switch in the SITE MANAGER - LICENSE to the "Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 License" is not enough?
This gives the standard License line at the bottom of the wikidot-frame:
"Unless stated otherwise Content of this page is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 License"
==> Or you can use the "Other" selection and insert this code
This work is licensed under a <a rel="license" href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/us/">Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 United States License</a>.

There is a great feature with highlighting some sort of code between [[code type="<type>"]] … [[/code]]. But there is no possibility to use syntax highlighting for the Linux shell (bash or sh). Now I have seen that the used PEAR::Text_Highlighter supports highlighting for the sh shell. See http://pear.php.net/manual/en/package.text.text-highlighter.intro.php
Please make this and of course the other types available in wikidot.com.
Thanks a lot.
