Image size relative to a div? Is that possible?

Hello,

Is there any way to set up an image so that it adjusts its height according to the div element it is nested in? I'm looking to have an image span the entire vertical length of a div element and it needs to adjust (grow or shrink) if the text in that div element increases or decreases. I can't think of any way to accomplish this.
