I wanted to use my own user-created favicon for my wiki, but I can't find any way to do that. I checked to see if there were any options in the site manager, but I didn't find anything. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas? Thanks for the help.
For the sake of consistency, i propose this one:
a first try of a favicon inspired by youtube and, as i realized afterwards, the polish flag ;)
Woo, this one is nice. But is it really readable? On the other hand the
is too similar to:
— from Wordpress,
— Wikipedia.
I have also came with my own icon:
— or something based on it?

How to avoid posting with images/pics stored on personal wikis ?

Hmmm… it is a bit more readable — nice work!
How about letting users upload their own favicons too? I think I might do it actually… In fact some of the users has been suggesting this months ago ;-)
Next week there will be a minor upgrade, if I make the favicons on time it will be there!
Goon/Gerdami: could I use your favicon?
BTW: you can not attach a file to a forum post (yet). You have to store it somewhere else… Sorry about this. :-(

Hey thanks gerdami, based on yours, i revised the i's and tried some shading:
It might seem pedantic to discuss 16x16=256 pixels, nevertheless they are important somehow. E.g for the Social bookmarking module.
For me, a good icon must be recognizable at the first glance, not necessarily readable. A favicon should not only look stylish it should remind of the site it represents. These are good examples:
because they repeat the logo, graphics or colors of the respective site. Other cool icons can be found here. Somehow this one isn't that good. Yes, it's a "G" but with the surrounding box i don't think of google first.
I also considered something more abstract like yours, Michal. But I wasn't very successful. The trademark of wikidot is the dot — written out, white on a red background. So i think, something like that must be part of the icon. I also tried to do something with a dot in the style of mediawiki.
However, maybe its better to stick to the neutrality of the current one until users can choose their own icon for their wikis.

errm … this is the thread where it was suggested.
Goon,
Mine was based on yours.
I think that your version 5 is the most readable but also recognizable.
I endorsed the user option to have its own, but in most of the cases, the default favicon could be a sign of membership of the Wikidot family/farm.
The current W
could be used for the community.wikidot.com or snippets.wikidot.com. [What about a merge of these two ??].
However, the problem would be the similarity with the one from youtube
.

Me too wanted to use my own user-created favicon for my wiki, Is it possible? If yes then how?
I would also like to request some way to easily integrate emoticons/favicons into pages.
You see, i'm trying to build a community wiki about a beat-em-up game and it would greatly help people to contribute if every time they typed punch it could be replaced by a small
picture, without them having to write [image attribute attribute etc.]
I realise that a forum is radically different from a wiki so it probably won't be possible to integrate emoticons/favicons that easily but here's a link showing what i'm talking about, using the same picture in the same context.
Once i again i am making a plea for emoticon support, like the one used in most forums.
The fact that the wiki i'm working on does not suport emoticons is deterring people from making the transitions from the outside forum we are using - even though they admit it's unstructured and hard to use.
Should i create a separate thread for this request?
Well, there's nothing wrong with using [image] linked to some files on your wiki. One big problem is that the emoticons will vary depending on the theme. So… I can't guarantee that I can convince Michal to include emoticon support, however, I will push for it if you help me make the first steps :
- Identify all the emoticons needed.
- Define the emoticon text definitions.
- Create a black and white set of emoticons. (so they can be colored per theme)
Create a another thread. :)

and still i don't can't figure out how i got my favicon on my site. is there a way or must i wait till i can download the whole wiki?
