Hi friends!

My question is related with moving a comment about page content to a category in the forum.

I use the Comments module in every page of my sites. But, sometimes, I need to move a specific comment to a more apropriate category in the forum. I already have done that sucssefuly. However, that moved post still remains visible in the original page. If I delete the comment in the page, that comment is also deleted in the category to where I moved it.

I hope that you understand my doubt and could give me some help!

The only work-around I can think of is to copy the source of the original post and paste it to a new post in the forum category you want, then delete the original. The problem with this, of course, is you lose the original author and date/time stamp. To get around that you could add a header section to the post:

It would be nice if per-page comments would automatically be removed from the page they are associated with if the comment is moved to a new category.

In fact, that was the "solution" that I was using. However, it isn't a good one. In a site with hundreds of pages, sometimes those pages are flooded with comments that could be more useful in a forum category. Losing the original author and date/time stamp it's not a good solution, even with the inclusion of an observation about the original info.

Well… when we don't have a good solution we need to use what is possible…

But if the move of a thread works in general - than this can be done withiout deleting the ( original and unique ) comments of the pages itself.
I would "hide" on such page the comments in a collapsible block - or fold them not to show them… but if someone puts anew comment on the page - this comment is shown on "both" palces than?

Moved threads have the same link as before - only the "canvas" (c-9 for our deleted threads: http://community.wikidot.com/forum/c-9/deleted-threads ) is changed internally on the thread.

if you delete some posts inside the thread - there is no other one available.!

The move of a comment-thread out of the "perp age discussion" canvas ( here on our ciomunity http://community.wikidot.com/forum/c-189/per-page-discussions ) is a special thing I beleive - the canvas is always boukd to the page itself…

So, the punch line is that we can't really move a comment from a page to a new forum category. In the forum structure, the moved post is displayed in the new category, but in fact that post remains attached to the original page where it was placed in the first place.

"Hiding" is a worst solution, because that is the same to remove the Comments module on a page!

It seems to me that an admin could have the possibility to move posts without any limitation.
