I'm new to Wikidot and to web design as a whole but I wanted to create my own theme from scratch for my site. I was wondering if I could use Dreamweaver to create the CSS code for it and if so how I would go about doing that (not actually creating it, just getting the code from the program to my site). If not how can I create the code and is there an easier way to create it than in Dreamweaver? What draws me to dreamweaver is that it is visual, I come from a photoshop and illustrator background, and I feel more comfortable with that then with code.
I would give a "potentially yes" qualified response, but it's not a route I would recommend. Every wikidot site is built up from a base CSS stylesheet. So this would need to be imported into dreamweaver as a base before you then start to adjust it and add to it to create your custom theme. There is then the issue that things like the side-bar, top-bar and so on have specific CSS selectors in Wikidot and unless you use those selectors you'll have problems. It is do-able, although despite being familiar with Dreamweaver I've never tried to use it with a Wikidot site and I don't think any of the admins here have. We work directly with the CSS syntax.

I agree with Rob. It's doable, but you'd have to spend a lot of time creating a page to edit that matches all of the elements that make up a Wikidot page. I have spent some time with Dreamweaver as well, but my workflow is similar to Rob's when it comes to Wikidot sites. We both really like to use the Firebug addon for Firefox to edit and test CSS changes before making them live on our sites.
That said, it might be a useful project for someone to create a Wikidot "template" that includes a HTML page and the base.css code for use with Dreamweaver. If I ever get some free time, I may give it a shot. The idea intrigues me.

And if you do that, it would be great to combine it with the old CSS Zone. I'm still trying to actually work on that site, but it is difficult with classes going on.

Great! Thanks for the help guys. Since I'm still new to web design I was hoping to stay on the graphics side as long as possible but I have to dive into syntax and code at some point so today might as well be the day!
