Yes, this is done with CSS:

#top-bar {
    float: left;
}

As it will affect your whole site you don't want to put tis into a CSS module but into your site-wide CSS. Let us know if you need instructions on how to do this.

I've tried that already, but it seems to have no effect.

See here: http://www.250bpm.com/

Note that menu is aligned to the right although the custom theme used has float: left specified for top-bar.

Any ideas?

It's because the default theme also has right:1em in it (I hadn't checked your site when I made the previous post). Add the following:

#top-bar {
    float:left;
    left:0;
}

and that should sort it.
