Hi,
A while back I created sio2interactive.wikidot.com. I allowed edits without login, to make it easy for people to edit.
Today, I logged in and find the site is gone, only the message "Site is deleted". I've had no warnings or notice - how could this happen?
I guess because occasionally some strange people add spam (what a way to make a living) but I always delete that within 24 hours. Could that be connected?

In the last 2 months we have deleted over 35000 spam sites, both manually and by an automated process. It is inevitable that a few (and it is a very small number) of legitimate sites will be caught up in that. Your site does seem to have suffered from spammers which is possibly why it was deleted. I have had a look at the site and un-deleted it. You should be fine from here on.

Your site got caught in the automatic spam filter. It looks like you have little content and many outgoing links - one of the major flags for the automatic spam detection routine. Sorry, I can't read your language so I'm not comfortable restoring your site without more information.

I found the deleted site and I had a look on the "google Translation" ( "dutch" - english , on the right menu) and it is very clear - this is a housbilding / recovery wiki with a lot of future mini.projects..
It is now undeleted and should be fine from now on.

I can see that it is definitely not spam, so I can't see any possible reason for someone to delete it.
Looking at it now though, it is currently marked as verified (i.e. no spam), and I can view it. So if it was deleted earlier, it looks like that was reversed.
Whilst I don't think it will happen again… if it does, please post here again as you did just now and it'll be fixed.

This just happened to me. I created a site 'steam-pirates.wikidot.com.' I came today to do some work on it and got 'Site is deleted.'
My site had no spam that I was aware of, no one even viewing it yet other than myself. I received no warnings, so if I was doing something wrong, I'd be glad to change it - but I'd like my original content back.

I have absolutely no idea why that was deleted - it looks legitimate to me & I would have verified it.
I've just reversed the deletion for now, sorry about that.
Edit: Actually, the forum isn't even being used from what I can see (every single post is by someone named "Richie", and there's only a few of them) … so I can understand why it may have been mistaken for spam.

Richie and adlemere are one and the same as I have just seen a PM from him asking for assistance, although you have now dealt with it Shane. The site certainly looks Ok to me so its deletion was an error.

hey i created 2 sites yesterday http://taxform2290.wikidot.com/ and http://downloadform2290.wikidot.com/ and both got deleted without warning. I wanted to create more informative pages and when i open the site it says its deleted. Why???……please can someone answer that? As far as I'm aware i don't think there was any spamming to the sites and i was the only one who was the admin and had control for it…..then why???…

Your sites were caught by the webspam process we use which is both automatic and manual. Over the last few months we have deleted well over 50,000 webspam sites and only about 4% of sites created are genuine sites, the other 96% just exist to provide backlinks to other sites.
We are (allegedly) reasonable people here so I have had another look at your sites.
taxform2290: this site uses generic content on just one page copied directly from other sites, eg http://blog.tax2290.com/?p=908, and you have external links to greentax2290.com but no other content, no attempt has been made to alter the menus. In my view it exactly matches the profile of a webspam site as its purpose appears to be solely to provide backlinks to other sites.
downloadform2290: the same applies. The content has just been copied from other sites, eg http://www.irs.gov/efile/article/0,,id=170570,00.html, again with external links to greentax2290.com, no other content, no menu alterations etc. In my view it is also a webspam site as its sole purpose appears to be to provide backlinks to other sites.
If the sites are not webspam I would have to ask why you needed 2 sites for exactly the same thing, both with links pointing to greentax2290.com and with no original content. Even your forum signature points to greentax2290.com!
I have therefore not un-deleted these sites. Others on the team may wish to review this and they may take a different view.

One of my private sites, created for a collaborative work, was deleted. I do not know that content could be in disagreement with the service terms. I do not have backup of the content most recent. How can I recover my content? I spent time convincing the collaborators who wikidot would be a good place for this and now our work disappeared!
What is the name of the site that was deleted? Looking at your profile, I see you are the admin of 6 sites and they are all active. I can help investigate if you provide more details.

I am new to wikidot.com and created some websites which got deleted - I had no warning and am unsure about I may have done wrong. I am willing to change anything that is required by wikidot. I wrote to support but have heard nothing so far.

The reason is alwass the same:
A wiki is created and the Links to other sites are inserted ( SEO-technic) for better results on search machines.
This is SPAM.
Do it for your own in a different way and with more work and with more content and with more menus and with more contacts and members and so on… this is a wiki tahn and not a SPAM site at the beginning.

Thanks for the link. I will carefully read the thread and act as per Wiki rules. I think I can see where the mistake is and need to correct it. How do I get the sites undeleted so I can remove the links and add more content?
Firstly your site iwanttoloseweight.wikidot.com wasn't called that, it was 1wantoloseweight.wikidot.com. That sort of naming is common with webspam sites. It had no content and just a link to aother site. The other site also had almost no content and a link to the same external site. If it is not webspam why would you have 2 sites with no content both pointing to the same external site. That is webspam. The developers also clearly thought so as it was one of them that deleted the sites.
To give you the benefit of the doubt I have undeleted both sites for now but they will come up for review again before long so you might want to change what you have done.

Sorry Rob, but if you check again I think you will find that I did create a website called iwanttoloseweight.wikidot.com. 1wanttoloseweight.wikidot.com was created with a typo error (1 instead of i -I didn't know how to delete it). I created iwanttoloseweight.wikidot.com once I realised my mistake. I will be grateful if you can restore iwanttoloseweight.wikidot.com
There is on the site manager ( admin:manage page) the point RENAME your SITE ( the URL) :

It was becoming useful in my academic research and enabled me to share my progress with all my research buddies.
Was it considered spam by one of your automatic webspam process? Or did violated something?

It was deleted by the devs/webspam filter probably due to the fact that it's only a single page with quite a few external links on it. But I have looked at it and it seems OK so has been undeleted and won't caught by the webspam filter again.

I have started few days back and I completed a one wiki page yesterday. Now the site got deleted. It is hirantha.wikidot.com. There has no spam contents but two urls to legitimate sites. As of now only myself viewing the site.

For me your site looks like a typical spam site - only build to link to the selling ip adress….( Reality 3D printer wiki) and later to the basis on ahagadgets on wordpress.
But someone else has undeleted your site and it is ok for me with this decision and your site is secure now.

Same story: my site http://graph-ssl.wikidot.com/ was deleted without any warning! The stie is meant for a tutorial at an upcoming conference. I wrote to moc.todikiw|troppus#moc.todikiw|troppus but no response so far. It will be great if you could restore it. At the least, I would like to get the content out.

Wikidot uses a combination of automatic and manual processes to identify sites that are likely to be webspam. The filter usually traps those on low karma who have recently created a site with a lot of external links. But there are other criteria as well. Nearly 150,000 sites have been deleted with the current system and so inevitably a few will actually have been genuine, but only a small number of users have asked us to restore their site. Wikidot has a policy of not talking to spammers so there will be no warning in advance.
