Clearing a float with ~~~~ introduces excess white space
ErichSteinboeckErichSteinboeck 1200557530|%e %b %Y, %H:%M %Z|agohover

When clearing a float (that was started with e. g. a [[div style="float… or a [[f>image…) using the ~~~~ tag, excess vertical white space is introduced.

This excess white space will always extend until the bottom of the nav:side bar.

For an example see http://community.wikidot.com/forum/t-26490, and check the post from 25 Nov 2007, 23:06. The two-column layout ([[div style="float:left; width:60%…; [[div style="float:left; width:32%…) was cleared with a “~~~~”. The excess white space exactly ends where the left-hand nav:side ends.

This problem is not restricted the forum or to community.wikidot.com. It seems to happen anywhere where ~~~~ is used.

Thanks for considering a fix.
