This is what I'd like to do, for a menu. New theme, based on bone and inlaid paua shell. What I'd like to do is have a menu bar that is bone colored, with black text. On hover, the black text turns transparent, revealing the blue paua shell image beneath, making for beautiful blue text. I know it could be done with background images swapped on hover, but that would require fixed elements in the menu, and I'd like something to be capable of handling changes to the menu text without requiring brand new images. On the fly changes, as it were.
I thought about using rgba(34,76,157,0) for the :hover text (or whatever color - that 0 makes it fully transparent, I believe), but I can't figure out how to make everything else in the text element opaque.
Somewhat related - is there a way to create drop shadows in css? I heard of a filter, I thought…
Thanks,
Aidan
