Simplify the email invitation screen
Email invitations

The current format for email invitations is quite a pain to use. Most email clients store addresses like this:

"Someone's name" <theiraddress@domain>

But the email invitation screen asks for email address and name seperately, requiring a lot of useless cutting & pasting.

It'd be much easier to use a single text box that allows entry of email addresses, separated by new lines or commas.

It seems there are a few different approaches to the problem: some sites indeed offer coma-separated invitations (like MySpace), other ask you to put name and email separately (like Flickr.com). We had a discussion before invitations have been implemented and the second option has been chosen…

There is also another quick way to invite a lot of users:

  • set a membership password
  • email this password to your audience.

Some new easy ways are being considered too ;-)
