I did a new CSS design and registered the custom domain name for http://www.fossoway.org on behalf of Dadn. Since the site went live we have been trying to figure out why the site shows up badly on google search results for fossoway although well on other search engines. As part of this I noticed today that the http://fossoway.wikidot.com address was showing up reasonably high in the search results which was a bit puzzling as google has re-indexed recently and some time ago I had set the custom domain to be the only domain.
On investigating further I see that despite the "Use the custom domain as the only domain for this site" box being checked it is still possible to access the site via the wikidot domain and it doesn't point it to the custom domain which it should, it points to the wikidot address. I have checked against other sites I am working on which are setup exactly the same at the hosting company 1&1 and at Wikidot. These other sites point correctly to the custom domain when the wikidot address is entered into the browser address bar. An example of this working correctly is shown in the image below for my site at http://www.contin.org.uk. I entered http://contin.wikidot.com/admin:manage into the address bar and it correctly shows http://www.contin.org.uk/admin:manage
But the Fossoway site doesn't do this despite, as I said, being set up exactly the same. The site can be accessed by http://www.fossoway.org without any problem. But it can also be accessed by entering http://fossoway.wikidot.com and that address appears in the address bar. This is incorrect behaviour and appears to be a bug at the wikidot end. An image of the result when entering http://fossoway.wikidot.com/admin:manage is shown below. The wikidot address is showing in the address bar yet you can clearly see the checkbox for only using the custom domain is checked. It should be showing http://www.fossoway.org/admin:manage
I'd be grateful if this could be looked into.
