Summary:

I wanna move content from my old forum to my wiki (old forum uses xHTML)

I have an old forum here and have lots of pages like This one that I used the rich text editor for and I probably could pull out the HTML, so I was windering if there is comething where I could go:

<img whatever HTML code is> all my HTML goes here
[[/html]]
and it it will just use HTML instead of normal wiki code to the browser and then I could still have parts of the page in Wiki code…

Only <span> and <div>, and those must appear as [[span]] and [[div]].

Can this feature be added? I need somewhere to host all my old articles!

Is there a program to quickly convert HTML to wiki, most if the code is for embedded images and formatting (hyperlink), but I am afraid if the images wont show up in the same position!

As i understand it..
the reason HTML is not used is to stop malicious code.
I doubt very much if there is a converter.

the chances that this feature be implemented , i would guess are minimal to none.

There is no reason not to allow HTML for security reasons. The main reason is that you can do most of what you need (except real table formatting} with CSS and wiki syntax. The worst someone could do with HTML is look silly with it.

Now, Javascript is another thing altogether.

What's CSS?

What is the easiest way to take articles like the one I given and put them on my Wiki? It's xHTML so I think that's safer than HTML but I guess still not good enough.

Censorship mine. Wikidot does not allow obscenity. Wikidot does not support illegal activity. If you fail to respect a creative commons license among 40,000 people using it, you've got hell coming. It's not a TOS violation (yet), however, no one is going to help you in your blatant disregard for their content licenses.

Hotlinking is considered rude at best as well. The server you hotlink from has to pay for the bandwith you steal.

Snoopy is so Happy he can get free entertainment! Or maybe it was because BWE opened up! Either way Warez is good!

Wikidot does not support illegal activity.

I really don't have time for this. As soon as I have time (within hours), I will recommend the speedy deletion of your account and your wiki. If you want to keep it, back it up now. I can't tell you how long it will take before your account is deleted (a day?), however, it will be deleted.

For the community : Several people have messaged me asking why on earth I would be so hard on this guy, after all, free speech isn't illegal. Well, supporting illegal activity is a TOS violation. Sorry. You should also know that his wiki is "The Best Wiki Ever", which has a counterpart "The Best Forum Ever", which contains numerous links to illegal websites, many of them already deleted by the host of the destination of the links. From the link text, it is very clear where all of the links originally lead to.

Anyways, I am not supporting nothing.

I just copied most from Wikipedia.

I am just stating facts, Warez exists so it deserves an article. I have no links to Warez on that page and am wrapping up that forum and replacing it with the BWE where there will be none of that stuff, that old forum was just for fun to see what I could do. BWE is replacing that forum and there are not counterparts.

About the language, I see it on other Wikis so I think you are just picking on me there.

Out of the list of Wikis which one does Wikidot use?

Media Wiki is default, that's not the one, but is that as close I am can get?

Itis good to see that this exists, a program to convert is what I am looking for, I will have to try the settings and might have to modify the code slightly… THis program shows that it can be done, maybe there will be a HTML 2 Wikidot one….

Thats why I made this thread, it was support for how to do this and a request for features for if you have HTML.
