I had a look at this, and if my thinking is right all this seems to be is a fancy way of using the social module

Phil,
Michal has better to do than maintaining a list of social bookmakers.
That's why AddThis.com or SocialList.org1 services were created.
so my thinking is wrong then?
No, Phil. you are correct - we have to give the hint for the existing bookmarks anyway..
today I deleted a snippets entry - exact doing this for the existing "del.icio.us" with forbidden php.
What gerdami means - this is the wish of NEW social bookmarks . not yet existing in the long, long list of inmplemented social organisations. Could be there is some intresting new one - but I have no idea what is important and what not…
No guys,
you are wrong.

It is not up to us to decide which service is good or not, it should be user's choice !
SocialList.org has already:
* English - 499
* French - 77
* Spanish - 67
* Russian - 54
* German - 44
* Italian - 40
* Portuguese - 27
* Japanese - 17
* Chinese - 13
* Dutch - 4
social bookmakers.
Do you really want all this bullshit within wikidot ? Leave this stuff outside.
That said, I like wikidot's built-in social bookmarking when I want to display just a few like del.icio.us or digg.
Thank you, guys, for bringing this up.
One of the reasons I first requested the possibility of adding an "AddThis" button is that it's simply more practical, since it leaves the task of adding new social bookmarking services, ranking them, etc. to a third-party such as AddThis (after all, that's supposed to be their expertise).
That would free some precious time which the Wikidot developers could spend doing something more essencial. I use the "complete" set of buttons (i.e., the social module) in one of my sites, but I guess many of the options listed there won't ever be used, while others, more popular, are missing. In addition, at least one is broken (a green square button, which should lead to del.irio.us). Given the myriad of more urgent tasks, I'd even be embarassed to ask that someone fix that :).
Having the possibility of using something like AddThis would remedy that problem. I just learned about SocialList.Org now, reading gerdami's message, and that's certainly another nice option.
Again, thanks!

Agreed.
