Is there a way so that external links are easily distinguishable from interwiki links? Like in MediaWiki, there's a symbol on the right of every external link.

Not automagically. You'd have to do it yourself. I agree, this should be an automatic feature, but three instead of two :

1. internal wiki
2. internal wikidot
3. outside link

And possibly

1. link to internal file (of type)
2. link to external file (of type)
