Forgive me if this feature already exists but I was wondering if there would be a forum notification system that tells people when their post was replied to or other features that could be set in their profile (Like whether they wanted an email or not). You could have admin set an email address that would send the emails, and just have a basic email saying "Your post was replied to, click here to view it". I know there is an RSS feed to notifications but it's not ideal. Plus only admin can access it. Just an idea and wondering if some feature like this already exists. Thanks.
There is sth like this but needs optimizations. In a forum thread click on +options and add to watched. The thread's posts are displayed (and ordered by date posted) in My Account » Watched » discussions and also available via a private RSS feed.
So your users could do this or just use RSS feed for specific discussion thread. This feed is password-protected if the whole site is private and the private RSS feed password (not the login password) should work.
OK, but I realize this is not the easiest way to watch a discussion. But for now — please look at the above available ways…
With some effort you can create daily email notifications from password-protected feeds using http://www.feedblitz.com/

Either this option is still not available or I cannot determine how to invoke it. No way can I check and determine if my post has been replied to I'm just too darn busy and get over 200 emails each day, most of which is junk but on an average day I spend about 7 hours resolving various issues and the backlog is months long. Please implement this feature or make it an automatic feature, e.g. when somebody makes a post it would seem reasonable that they would like to see any reply to the post.
That would seem reasonable:
