In the Game Maker FAQ you have the following question:
Can I embed a game made with Game Maker in a webpage?

Your answer is:
Not directly. There is a project out there called G-Java that is aimed at converting Game Maker source files into Java applets.

My answer is:
Yes you can, look on google for a program called Web Game Builder(It's Free) and use that. It works perfectly for me!
When compiling it all set the text colour to black so the 'trial version' text can not be seen!

Thanks for the comments, but the Game Maker FAQ is for a specific game design software package named Game Maker. Web Game Builder is certainly cool and Game Design Novice will be creating tutorials for it very soon if it works as the website promises. However, I can't find anything on the WGB site that says anything about Game Maker.

Sorry about that. I'm an idiot. I was under the impression that Web Game Builder was Game Maker-like. I should have read the Web Game Builder pages more carefully before responding. I see now that it packages any .exe so that it can be embedded in a webpage. Great find. I will update the FAQ soon. Thanks.
