2. do not set your wiki to private
3. do not restrict access rights to wikidot members
   … at least at the beginning. There is a very little chance that your wiki be vandalised.

Later, you would then set the access rights as needed.

Hi,
i'm italian artist. I use wiki for study a performance, but i've some problem with the graphic. I like to personalize the design but i don't understand how is possible to do with wiki for the design of the site.
Is possible to put a logo? Or change the color to menu or insert images for wallpaper into pages? I can do a newsletter for the members? My forum section is not correct… What's Forum Threat?

Site manager - "Public or private" :
un-check the switch "make this site private"

And the rights are set per category ( [http://community.wikidot.com/glossary:category ]) on the
site manager - permissions

i'm german. my englisch is'nt the best and i would lie if say that i understand all things are written here. i'm interested in mac4all. that's why i came to this site. you could help me getting me a list of hardware i need to build a mac on a pc.
that's all for the beginning. i will built a pc only for the mac system. i would be happy, if anybody answer.

Hello.
First, many many thnks for giving us the gift of this beautiful wiki site. I have been setting up here: http://severn-barrage.wikidot.com/severn-barrage-debate

To get to the start page I have to go to example menu > example 1 > link to http://severn-barrage.wikidot.com/severn-barrage-debate. When I tried to rename the page, it got into a loop. Is there any fix please?

No, this is a bad construct!

Never do a real RENAME of a page … ( i do it NEVER) better give them a hidden category "hidden:page_name" ( by "rename" it)

The "start" page is now your welcome page ( at the left menu) .

You should copy it to "start0" or such unused ( and later hidden) page name.
( edit page
- mark all content of source
- copy
- cancel
- create new page ( or write in url adress after ….wikidt.com/start0 ) with start0
- enter source with paste
- save your old version of the welcome = start page.

edit your start / welcome page as you want.

That are one of the first steps on your own wikidot site.

The menu at the top you can change to what ever you want on page nav:top ( put it on th URL adress after wikidot.com/…)

Later you will perhaps change the nav:side menu… but be carefull - you should know at this point what you have designed …

You can try the http://handbook.wikidot.com/ too !
There is the learning courve we all hade in the past…

I'm not sure i fully understand the request but….(if my thinking is right)

if you want "severn-barrage-debate." to be your start page then all you need do is got to

Site manager
general settings
and in the default start page box, put:
severn-barrage-debate.
save changes
job done
