Hi, all,

I did a search on using HTML inside a wiki page but didn't really find out much. The code type="html" didn't work… it just colour-coded the code itself. What I'm looking for is a way to allow HTML to work within a wiki page. (There's a template I have that is only in HTML and won't work in wiki code.) <html> and </html> also didn't work. I saw something about iFrames but I have no clue what those are or how to use them (or if they can even be used in this respect).

Any help would be appreciated, and in any responses, please go step-by-step as I'm a neophyte here! ;)

okay, your on the right track. what you have to do is, put the code in a [[code type="html"]] block. then use the iframe to display the result and not the code.

example:

[[code type="html"]]your html code here[[/code]]

then put a iframe

[[iframe http://example.wikidot.com/code/code#]]

but then you might want to hid the code block by either putting it on another page, or hiding it in a collapsible block.

rhombus you don't need to put it in a collapsible block. If you don't need to see the code block at all then put the

[[code]]..[[/code]] tags inside

[!--
--]

tags.

really? i didn't know that would work.

It works rhombus… I have ever see that done it community page… just use the comment mark-up to 100% hide it…

Just use this code (Like rhombus have posted):

[[iframe http://your-site-name.wikidot.com/your-page-name/code/1 frameborder="0" scrolling="no" width="300px" height="200px"]]

[[code type="html"]]

Please pay attention to the bold words…

your-site-name part means you should change it to your site name
your-page-name part means you should change it to your page location where you put above code
Also change the HTML code… the content is up to you

You can also modify the iframe property such as frameborder, scrolling, width, height to fit your framed HTML need (see http://www.wikidot.com/doc:wiki-syntax#toc51)…

There are two ways to do this.

1) by using an html codeblock/iframe combination:

Then underneath add an iframe:

2) or there is a simpler method in this case which is just to put the url part of the code into an iframe:
