Lots of issues with this that I'll list below.
Firstly, I've been a member of bitcointalk since 2016 though I don't spend much time there these days, primarily because the forum is riddled with scams and for anyone familiar with BTC you will know that it is a common currency used in scams. Assuming the post is real, then Michał will have difficulty selling his site when he has a history of just 1 post and 0 merit. People on that site expect to see good merit just to buy something worth $20, much less $2.5M. I will assume that the listing is legit though, not because it looks legit, but because if someone was impersonating Michał, then that post is about as far as they would get because anyone serious about paying that amount would expect GOOD proof, written agreement, etc… But I can tell you that the majority of the members of that site will assume it is a scam.
Secondly, his valuation is off. He has calculated the value of his site over the course of 10 years probably because he picked that up from a show like Shark Tank. But the problem is that his site earnings are in decline. This is obvious by the fact that he is only showing earnings for the last year. If he were to show earnings for the site since 2007 to present, it would probably look like a hump. This means it would take a lot of effort (and ad spend) to turn that curve around and lets face it, there are roughly 100 sites on wikidot that bring in that advertising revenue which is the vast majority of earnings from the site ($25K per month ad revenue and only $2K per month selling pro and pro+ accounts). We in the advertising business call wikidot an ad farm, because its purpose is to earn money through ads. Take away a dozen sites like SCP and his ad revenue quickly falls, an ad farm with most eggs in one basket, is a very unstable investment.
I'm not saying that wikidot does not have value, I'm saying that no way is it worth his valuation, not even close. Lets see the full curve for the lifetime of the site. ;)
Thirdly, this is classic Michał not giving a fuck about his community because if he did, he would have let the community know about it. It's funny because he embeded a that vimeo video in his listing, in that he makes the comment "sure you need to talk to your community, you need to care about them." And yet he does not do that, it took longer than a month to get ahold of him when my own payment using BTC for my pro+ account (another account I have) did not go through. He didn't even so much as apologize, all he did was finally credit my account without a word about why he could not be bothered with it for more than a month.
Fourth, Why not put up a for sale sign on the homepage of wikidot and advertise it through other means other than listing it within what is perhaps one of the worse scam portals on the web? I'll tell you why, because not only does Michał not talk to his community they way he said people will… when they "care", but he is intentionally trying to keep it hidden from the community. If he cared, he would have told the community first. I think that once upon a time he cared… about the site, and even the people on the site that helped him to become a success, but no more.
And I wonder about all those unpaid volunteers that have been doing so much work for Wikidot, especially the spam fighting team that work for free when he's been earning $20K per month (and more in the past). And one specific volunteer that has stuck with it all this time, I wont mention his name but he knows who he is and he has provided tons of help to this community, before, during, and after all of the others have left, he is more the face of wikidot than anyone else.
