I'm creating a site for my students. But since I have students at multiple companies and I work for multiple schools, confidentiality is a concern. So I can't have all my students getting access to more than their (or their company's) pages. Since they're not likely to care about other pages I think a simple if-then statement code on the start page would work fine.
But how to do it?
I cannot get html to work. (How anyone else did is beyond me— it looks like I did everything exactly the same way as georges42 but all I get is the html code listed in a light grey box.) I can still write BASIC, but will wiki read it any better than my html? Anyway, it seems to me that I just need a module that no one has written yet. Any ideas out there? Or can someone tell me how to write a module/write in XHTML/write wiki code?
Thanks!
KEvin
There is an "iftag" conditional question of tags available - means - a source code (or a page by include perhaps) between such iftags) is rendered only if the tag is set. But this does not help you.
If all the students have read - access to ONE private site - and they know after some time the standards of wikidot - they can find ALL pages.
No chance. You should split the companies or students group on several private sites… - there is an extra featuring portfolio for educational sites like a Pro-acocunt - could be you can create more sites as a "clone" of your first one.

Several private sites is the way to go for this but of course causes an admin overhead. So if you keep it one site either, as helmuti suggests, use iftags or perhaps use categories, one for each school or company.

There is a possibillity to "hide" different menu-strings ( or categories or any other splitting technics to divide pages into parts) :
http://snippets.wikidot.com/code:os-detection gives a possibility at the start page to ask for some passwords and than show only the link ( like Windows as OS opnly on my PC) with the allowed Link ( in href=…) to a nother "start" pagre for such company alone.
How to ask a password and than split into different decisions&targets - that is not my world.
But it should be easy to hide the code itself on another "hiden" system page not alloewd to edit excep admins.
