What future for Wikidot?
Wikidot hasn't been a good service for a long time now, but it's decent enough if you're willing to put up with outdated sofware to produce average-looking websites. Most people have flocked to other services by now, and those who stayed probably didn't have much choice.
I mean, Wikidot isn't dead, but it's pretty close to it. One obvious clue is that there wasn't a single announcement made throughout 2019. Not even to announce the yearly Black Friday sale, which of course they hadn't forgot in the previous years.
I suppose the service itself is rather profitable: With little staff to pay, Wikidot could sustain itself for the near future.
But how long can this status quo last? What can we do to maintain our sites in the event of a shutdown?
