Is there a way to make forums that exist but cannot be unhidden or are visible only to certain users? I have the forums "hidden," but users can simply show the hidden forums to see them. Anyone know of another way?
Why do you not create a "private" site - only allowed for invited members ?
The forum should be hidden like the other pages of such site for all other not allowed ( and not signed in) users?
I have no experience in such issue…
I, too, would like to have a forum hidden. I want the wiki pages visible (so I can't have a private wiki) but I think wiki members could discuss what they're doing more openly if the forum wasn't available to the whole world. Does anyone know how to do this?
Seconded. Alternatively, it might be easier to simply have an option to disable the "show hidden" button.
It would be nice to have a forum group — just one group — for admin/moderator discussion, and not be generally viewable like the rest. Is there a way to set that up, because I'm not finding it either.
I agree. Currently this can be done my making another site for admin discussions.
There may be a way to make a truly hidden category in wikidot 2.0 because it will have (I heard it will have) extended permissions options.
I suggest posting the idea to the feature request area anyway though.
Some Idea of mine, not easy to use (o_0)
- Forum can be use in one page, like wikipedia.
- we can see [!--comment--] only in view sorce and edit button.
- we can give permission, who can edit or view source.
- Mix and Shake it, Good taste.
BUMP!
I dont see any changes to this as of yet. I think it's important to have a hidden place for Mods to discuss the goings on of a forum and having t switch pages to do it is a pain. If there is a way PLEASE TELL ME!

Still applies. No changes yet.
I do not understand why you do not create a duplicate of your wiki site as a "private" one, only allowed for your mods.
They can discuss anything hidden from the other visitors on the "parallel" mods-forum.
And the menu-link to this forum is a standard link as usual… it makes no difference in the usage!
It is not a real secret for most of our visitors, the admins of this community- site have their own little "hidden" forum on such a parallel wiki.
If you were to have a link to another site, however, how would you make a link so that only moderators and admins get that link, and normal members get one to their website?
What you mena is a "actual selected and changed " link for specific members…I see no possibility for this in wikidot without a lot of work to do.
Easiest way is to show two links in the side menu :
one for "forum-public" ( or only "forum" )
and
one for "forum-privat".
The members know very fast that there is a parallel forum for the mods and admns only… why you want to hide the link ?
I'd like the option to have the option of password protecting subforums, not viewable/postable without permission of some sort. If not a password, then a custom permissions set, so you can pick and choose members to allow to view and post inside it without changing their overall status.
One application is for gaming clans, who typically have some subforms open to the public, and others hidden from view. Even registered members can't get in without permission of some sort. Even among the membership, not everyone would be allowed in every forum, so some members can only view the clan forum for one game that they've qualified to compete in, and others another forum. For a clan like that to use wikidot, they'd have to have several different private wikis spreading across several different games.
Obviously admin, mod collaboration has been mentioned, but even in those cases, you might want to bring a member into a particular collaborative effort without modding them.
Yes, I CAN create a separate private wiki. This would still be a nice feature.
Creating a private separate parallel site for select users, while an option, is not a very good workaround.
The best solution is an administrator function to create user subgroups and an ability to apply subgroup-only view settings to certain topics…
This is what what many full-featured forum platforms do… Like Invision Power Board, for example…
I don't think wikidot forum needs a lot of the full features that these power forum platforms have…
…But it should have this one…
If you haven't already, view this topic in the Wishlist and vote it up.
Poyfect…
Looks like it's # 2 in the queue…
Thx.
