I am new. I joined Wikidot because of a friend. However, it seems Wikidot is sending me spam or giving my email address to someone else to send me spam. It would help if this didn't happen.

are you sure it's not just your account notifications? if so, you can turn these of in your account settings.
It's not. It's stuff about credit scores, getting money from government, etc, which I have no interest in at all.
I don't believe Wikidot is responsible for any increase in spam you have received. It's probably just a coincidence. I have been a member for well over a year and have not received any extra spam as a result of being a member.
All it takes is for one computer to be compromised that has your e-mail address in an address book and the spam will find you.

Well this is just great. I've only ever given my website to three sites, and the other two I trust completely. I just got another email - this time about working out. This is annoying.
I never gotten spam on the address I gave wikidot (over a year ago), nor have I ever heard of it being an issue before this.
Sometimes they just guess your address. It sucks when it happens.
619 days, various email addys (non hashed) openly on display. Number of spam emails received. NONE!
Me too. Meybe some friend of yours who has your email in his address book got some of those mails that steal email addresses… It can be million of reasons fo rwhat is happening to you now… I am on wikidot from March 2008, and I have my personal email in my settings and contact email displayed on public site, and until now I did not get any spam mail to neither of them from wikidot…

Okay. I guess it's not a big deal; I don't use email much anyways.
On an unrelated note, is there an option in your profile for the forum signatures, or do you have to append them to all your posts manually?
You have to upgrade to pro to use signatures.
