nav:top rendering error?

I'm seeing some weird issues with nav:top…
I know I can't go more then one level deep with the nested lists, so I found that if I bold or italicize the font it "appears" like a header or divider.

I added a few bold lines to my nav:top and it looked nice, but I see some rendering errors when the box is over a header…

Here are two images, one where the rending looks great and the other where it is messed up!

1.
You should better use the [[size]]tag.:
[[size 150%]]150% of current size[[/size]] gives 150% of current size

2. the menu starts normal with a * [# Menu-Header]!

technic:

gives:

• Soma Software

BAD: after the end of the text is the background viewable again…
