The user is in Australia, he tried to create an account, first with gmail and then with iiNet, both common here, but neither received the confirmation email. Hopefully we are not too unusual a country!!
Now that he has tried to sign up, but didn’t receive the confirmation email, now he can’t try again because wikidot says the email addresses are already used. Do you know of any way around that?

Could be the email address was really used in former times on Wikidot?
A normal gmail address is normally not blocked..

And the email-spam box / filter has not hold the email?

Same Problem here. Only possible to sign up with facebook. I am not receiving any confirmation mails.

That makes sense in a way. See my other response below about equipment speeds. If you use an existing social media account then I think that system would handle making the contact to Wikidot which might improve your connection. It does create a chicken-and-egg problem if you can't create another social media account to connect to Wikidot from.

There are postings in the Forum from 2007, 2009 and 2012 about sign-up delays. But Wikidot is adding new users at the rate of 800 to 1000 a day, if the site statistics are accurate. That seems to argue against a software error in the new account process. So the problem must be elsewhere.

We are also having difficulties here signing up five users in different locations. The email domains being used appear to be irrelevant (in this case). We think connection speeds might be our problem, and possibly the number of users on Wikidot.

If you think these factors could be affecting you, try connecting during a slow-usage time of day and on something more stable than a wireless hotspot.

The Wikidot server might let you try again with the same email address, but wait 24 to 48 hours between attempts.

He could create a new free email on mail.com and try to sign up using that instead of his usual email then switch it to his main email after activation.
