Hello Helmut_pdorf,

For the first page, the browser is Chrome 73, when it does not work. However, the section link is working when I open it with Internet Explorer 11.0
Also, the link is not highlighted in IE 11.0, but the toc section The Beechfields Record Label is highlighted.

For the second page, the link works in both browsers, but is also not highlighted.

The second page, with the citation template, is ideal because of the parameter formatting. Unless the bibcite / bibliography allowed for templatization.

The use of "[[include citation" is causing a line break, in both cases. For the first page, the code breaks, in addition to the line break, and for the second page, there is also the line break.

I am sorry, most time I use Firefox, sometimes IE on Windows, never Chrome or Safari.. but I think I am the wrong man for your question.. perhaps there is another old Wikidot user who can have a look ?

For the highlighting section link, I am referring to the anchors that appear before the citation. If you select one of the interpunct's in the article prose, it will scroll down to the bottom of the page, however, if the reference is alphabetically low, say, at the end of the sentence "Lowlife says…", where it references an author with the last name of Thrasher

the page bottoms out, making the citation within the Bibliography section indistinguishable. To highlight the reference, with the same marking as with Zine Prolifery from the Table of Contents, would solve the bottoming out issue.

The anchors are invisible, but, if the anchors have a display text to highlight, it may work. And as you have helped me realize, if the same system used for generating the Table of Contents and Sections, is transposed for section link and anchors within the article, that may work, too.

Regarding the line break, if the "[[include citation" does not receive its own line, such as

Sorry, I misunderstood what you were going for with the toc links.

I think your include syntax is incorrect.

From the docs:

[[include pagename var1=value1 | 
number_books = 43 | 
title=Best Wiki Ever | 
variable_name = just a variable | 
variableName = another variable ]]

Your include has a leading pipe character and no space after the word "citation". Try this format and see if it helps:

[[include citation name=Brent, Bill; Biel, Joe|date=2014 |
title=Make a Zine: When Words and Graphics Collide |
work=Microcosm Publishing |
url=https://books.google.com/books?id=rZDQCQAAQBAJ |
access=11 February 2019 ]]

You should be able to break up your include in the same way as the docs example without affecting anything. It helps make it more readable. Or, put it all on one line, but leave the space after "citation".

Placing [[div style="line-height: .6em;"]] works. Also, I was able to reduce the template to one line. After which, your suggestion opened up the possibility to add an anchor parameter into the template, which I named "ref"

[[# {$ref}]]● {$name} ({$date}), "[{$url} {$title}]"➤, [[[wiki:{$work}]]], retrieved {$access}.

so, it cleaned up the citation listing, and it looks neater in the text editor.

A search for highlighting section anchors brought me into this thread, and in section 4

Anchors on a page are invisible !
If you want to make them visible you have to repeat the anchors-name or a similar meaning under a highlithing formatting technic. Means you can use Bolding or sizing style formatter. like the Top at the top of this page.

To Helmut_pdorf, it says "repeat the anchors-name", is there a page that demonstrates this, because it is what I am going for.

I found what I think is a solution. Tweak your template to add a [[span]] ... [[/span]] wrapper around the citation listing like this:

[[# {$ref}]][[span]]● {$name} ({$date}), "[{$url} {$title}]"➤, [[[wiki:{$work}]]], retrieved {$access}.[[/span]]

a:target + span {
    background: yellow; /* or whatever color you want */

You can also have some fun with other CSS tricks by combining the pseudo class before:

    content: " ";
    padding-left: 10px;
    background: #FF0;
    line-height: 30px;
}
