Some way of inserting blank space

I quite often have the problem of inserting blank space. Sometimes the page footer comes too close to the text, other times I need blank space to improve the visuals.

Right now I'm using custom divs but that's a lot of work. Can we have some way of inserting a blank paragraph?

I use a blank image (1x1 transparent pixel) and scale the way I need it:

I would use double @@ characters. :
leaded by double @@ characters, than
a space and than
ended by double @@ characters.

line1 end from paragraph A - then 4 space lines - ( look at the source)




line4 - start next paragraph…

Suggestion: how about a tag: [[entity nbsp]]

I too need html entities. Is it too hard to implement this?
I can make a suggestion:
I noticed & in wiki markup is always replaced with &
so this naturally breaks the entity since, say, → is transformed into →
Can we just have a markup that preserves & so that we can end up in proper html entity?

It's been a while now since this idea was posted, and I was amazed at the lack of entity support.   is important, not for spacing reasons, but for line-breaking reasons. Also, the other entities are important to be able to enter special characters without having to paste in the unicode directly.

Some of these features you can get through LaTex support. For example:

• An ellipsis with spaces between: $\text{. . .}$
• Maths symbols: $\sqrt{5}$
• Greek: $\alpha$
