I was just about to make an elaborate suggestion about adding wider and more advanced support for extensions like plugins and modules. But then I saw this over at wikidot.org:

Also a new extension/plugin management will be develop.

(Btw, there's a typo there. It should be "developed".)

So now I'm wondering if you can tell us a little bit about this upcoming feature. I'm guessing it's planned for v2?

Also, will you be following the same form of expressions similar as to what Joomla! does? That is:

Extension is a common term used for all of the below:

  • Component: mini-application to render the main page body
  • Module: renders small html blocks on any page
  • Plugin: changes code behavior dynamically (renamed from mambot)
  • Language: provides language translation
  • Tool : external application that helps with creating or managing Joomla! site
  • Special - extension specific plugin that requires another extension to operate

Yes, please clarify! I would love a "blog" extension but what would that be? My homepage CM is Wordpress, but really Wikidot is much more what I want to have my website become. So now I've got WP on one side and Wikidot on the other; they are linked but lordy it isn't pretty.

Michal I know you must have a lot on your plate but can you let on as to when/what will be the upgrades to Wikidot, or when the open-source software version will be available. A lot of things have been mentioned and requested in various threads around here, so it would be great to know what you consider to be priorities for implementation, and, as Sadr requested, some clarification on the "extentions."

Thank you so much!
