Hi,
I'm new to Wikidot and hope this post is a relevant idea.
I'm currently creating many fairly long wiki pages. I need to scroll up to see the Preview of the page I'm editing and then need to scroll down to change the wiktext. It is very inefficient.
Since my environment has two displays, it would be very helpful if I can see the Preview in one display and I can edit the wikitext in another display. Currently it is not possible unless you save the wikitext.
I thought you can easily overcome this situation if Wikidot adds remote Preview feature.
Say you are working on your_wiki.wikidot.com/my_page.
(1) Editting the page
URL: http://your_wiki.wikidot.com/my_page
(2) Click the Preview button
- this updates the Preview in the window
(3) Open/Reload Preview page from another window (in another display)
URL: http://your_wiki.wikidot.com/my_page?view=Preview (for example)
This displays the current Preview in another window
I think this is relatively easy to implement and very useful when editing a large wikitext.
If Preview button doesn't store the contents in the server-side, you could use "draft" as "Save Draft" button can be used.
(you could implement both: ?view=Preview and ?view=Draft)
If Wikidot already has such feature, please ignore this post (but please mention that in the documentation).
Thank you for your attention.
