Gerdami, why would you want to use an ID over a class? They are identical except that IDs have inbuilt anchors…

Yes, I've tried. The "id=…" gets stripped out of the HTML source. You can see this (or rather, not see this) if you examine the HTML page source.

Since [[div class="..."]] works, I don't see a big need to allow custom divs. Or am I missing something obvious?

I used the same concept to make bullet lists with correct spacing between each bullet. With the default value of no spacing is pretty hard to read level 2 bullets.

I do not think that it is a good idea to modify headings via the page content editor.
If one is not happy with current headings of a theme, he should modify the Theme stylesheet itself in order to keep harmonised headings throughout his website.
