Wikidot was at least once or twice mentioned in Polish press. Once in regional addition to popular newspaper and (I think) once in Polish IT/computer magazine (or Polish version of some global IT magazine).

Do note, that the your plan listed above; to publish your own book and use it as a reference in order to qualify a company profile wont work:

Wikipedia states that cited works must be independent of the subject:

Independent of the subject" excludes works produced by those affiliated with the subject including (but not limited to): self-publicity, advertising, self-published material by the subject, autobiographies, press releases, etc.

This was rushed but you may find it helpful: How to get into Wikipedia.

If you want an entry for wikidot alone, you need to be able to show references of being in print media, not online. I've been able to get wikipedia articles in based on a single print reference, though be prepared to debate any edit or removal.

Also, I read the copy above, it was way too promotional. Even with legitimate press releases. You have to write the copy as if you were merely listing facts about a company, without attempting to sell it. For example:

Wikidot.com is a wiki farm of Wiki Sites. Their mission is to provide free hosted wikis (like your-site.wikidot.com) with lots of features and professional wiki publishing, collaboration and communication solutions to anyone who needs it and wants it.

That single part would be torn apart by wikipedia. I'm going to write an article on how to get into wikipedia. I'll post here when it is complete.

I can accept that wikipedia (english) does not want to be a promotion site for commercial wikis and their daughters…

And I can accept that in an encyclopedia is really the neccessarity to have a filter "what is relevant?" .

Otherwise a lot of nonsense will be written by any author.

But how can we demonstrate this relevance for much people ( not the commercial Adsense possibility !).

Only by press notices, interviews of radios, school papers, gazettes and so on. Not only blogs !

MY idea : I will write a book about web 2.0 and its solution in wikidot.org and offer it on www.lulu.com for people do order a printed version.

Than we can write a reference about a public book from a living people with relevant content for a lot of readers ( :) !)

Yeah!

The first rule ( CSD A7) says : no bands, parties, web-sites and so on woth a "relevant source" written "over" it.

The deletions was done by a daemon / bot!

The reason lies in the fact that I wrote about people and not about software…
and had not enough press releases, intervies and so on.

Which documents the relevance for a lot of people! :)

Their mission is to provide free hosted wikis (like your-site.wikidot.com) with lots of features and professional wiki publishing, collaboration and communication solutions to anyone who needs it and wants it.
Wikidot.com offers users the ability to create websites using 'wiki' technology as used in Wikipedia and other products. Wikidot.com offers freedom from advertising, and free hosting for its users' websites. The company makes revenues from opt-in advertising and add-on services.
Wikidot.com is owned and operated by Wikidot Inc., founded in Delaware, US in 2007 by Wikidot.com founder Michal Frackowiak and a group of private investors. Wikdot.com was developed in Poland and was published as open source in January 2008. Wikidot Inc. derives revenue from opt-in advertising and services including support licenses.
About Wikidot Inc.
Wikidot Inc. is a privately-held corporation based in Delaware, US, with an operating office in Poland. The firm was founded in 2007 by Wikidot.com founder Michal Frackowiak and a group of private investors. For more information see .
The officers of the company are Pieter Hintjens (CEO) and Michal Frackowiak (General Manager of Polish operating office). Pieter Hintjens is CEO of iMatix Corporation, past President of the FFII, and has been active in the free and open source software field since 1991. Michał Frąckowiak is a former astrophysicist, certified software

Software and features
(Software is available free of charge to everyone at wikidot.org)
Wikidot uses its own software and wiki syntax, both of which are under continuing development. It recently deleted the limit of members for "private" (closed shop) wikis.
Users can create free wikis, which can be public or private and only viewable by those who either know the wiki -site password or are definetly members. If owners of wiki-sites want to "monetizing" their site Wikidot uses Google's AdSense program to run ads)

Pros:

One of the advantages of the Wikidot is its support of password protected private wiki. ( now more than 40 % of the sites are private) and the easy to install and use of a site specific forum. The software is quite easy to use. Also, there is no restriction on the number of users, number of pages, or revisions.

Cons

A little drawback of theWikidot platform is its limited space offered for files ( images, pdf, doc, xls a.s.o -300 MB) for free. Not limited are all txt-pages and their revisions. But with the possiblity to embedd Videos, Images from other services this is not e a real problem.
Also, the Wikidot syntax is easy to use for beginners and non-technic starters, but if the beginners get more and more knowledge, they are often over roled by the lot of features and the sophisticated functionality.
The permissions are different to set for user-attributes, but in current release there is no possibility to "hide" a page or category.

History
The site was launched on 1.
