Posts in the discussion thread "Is it possible to log in with low-tech browsers?" - I need to be able to log-in and view the content of a private wiki using low-tech browsers that cannot handle the javascript requirements of the new secure login method. Is this possible?

I don't think it's possible at the moment, but if you post it in the "New Features and Ideas" forum, it might be implemented in the future.

Goal: Access a private wiki using browsers on phones, hand-helds, and other embedded devices that may not have the latest browser technology installed.

Problem: Currently it is impossible for many of these browsers to get past the login sequence. The nested Javascripts, fancy pop-up iframes, and complicated encryption requirements make it impossible to log in for anyone using a less-sophisticated browser.

Example: The Nintendo DS has wifi capabilities that let it surf the web, but the Nintendo DS Browser (an Opera variant) simply stops and cannot do anything when clicking on a "login" link. Similarly, text-based browsers such as "links" or "lynx" have no possibility of being able to execute that code.

If you don't need to access a private wiki, than a simple text-based browser is more than adequate for surfing the content of a public wikidot wiki.

Does anyone know of a way to get past the login requirements with simple browsers? Does the old login code still exist somewhere? Will it still work?

Thanks,

David.
