This clarifies the difference :

Spam site policy :

Monicans : Take them out of the search results, block search engines from indexing them. Do nothing else. Wiki remains online and visible.

Bregans : Instant execution.

Inactive site policy (in reality)

Monians : Do nothing. Remember, someone created that.

Bregans : Wikis are run by head admins. If a head admin deserts a wiki, a new one is appointed. Advantage to this is that if you get tired of working on wiki x, you can go to wiki y.

— Shawn

Deraius, you almost have it right. :)

The rule with Monicans (wikidot) is complete freedom. Do what you want. Wikidot is a free host only. (ala geocities)

The rule with Bregans (wikicomplete) is order and structure for the greater good. (Building a network rather than just a free host, ala About.com / Wikia ).

Yes, I am the leader of the Bregans. Or I try to be. I can't seem interest people like me in the project until I can give them their own ads — even in several cases where I need people to take over existing wikis that are already developed and have good traffic. (Giving people their own ads was in the original wc.info evil plan.)

— Shawn

Monicans and Bregans are two faction in the Aeon Flux universe. The only thing I could figure is Monicans are "free-spirited" and that the Bregans are not so "free-spirited". I know nothing about Aeon Flux, and the movie doesn't follow much of the pre-movie series'.

But, this is somewhat thumb-sucking. Hartnell, please clarify this?

P.S. Trevor Goodchild is a Bregan. I think Hartnell is trying to save all wikis. Or control them all. :P

Well, it's good to know atleast that they pretend to do something like removing inactive sites. Maybe wikidot will enforce this at some later point when it actually becomes a problem.

Either way, there are still plenty of sub-domains thats arn't happycamped, and at the end of the day, wikidot still rocks in my opinion.

lol. er.. yeah. I've pointed that out too… it takes AN ACT OF FREEKIN' GOD to get that enforced. It was more than likely added as an afterthought.

Besides, what keeps someone from registering "doctor who" and putting thousands of haiku about cute kittens on it?

Thus the difference between wikidot and wikicomplete. :) Monicans and Breegans. :)

— Shawn

Actually, I think there is something in the terms of service about wikis left untouched or for the express use of experimentation. I'll check.

Yeah, under Termination and Blocking.

We reserve the right to delete any Wiki that has been created for testing purposes only without any significant content, recent activity and with clear signs of being abandoned.

Wikidot is a free host. There is no plan or management for the wikis beyond those that the person who registers it provides. The rule of wikidot is "complete freedom."

www.wikicomplete.info on the other hand, does want to see every relevant subdomain developed.

— Shawn

So far I have found two inactive sites: art.wikidot.com and math.wikidot.com

These two sites in question have no content, only the start page, and havn't had any changes since creation and are over 1 year old.

Although not a big issue, having the sub-domain go unused for people who want to have admin level control, such as adding forums, modules and manage roles without having to create new sites such as anotherartsite.wikidot.com just because someone created a site years ago and is never using them is wasteful.

Is there any policy to handle such sites or will they be there for the rest of eternity until one day the creators decide to use it or our sun dies out?
