My own Google CSE gadget used to open the results in the same window. dakkon03 has managed to make the gadget open the results in a new window.

Putting the gadget in iframe doesn't satisfy me because it would take too much space of my homepage and it would be very ugly on top of that.

I've uploaded screenshots of the Google Code page at http://www.sendspace.com/file/kehyna. There are code snippets there, for various ways to display the search results, but those cannot be embedded into Wikidot (or I have not done something correctly).

I see the point. The Google Custom Search described at add-a-custom-google-search-engine used to open a new window for the result page hosted at Google. It does not work like that any more.

However, it is possible to save the Google code into a local file and iframe it like below:

[[iframe http://community.wikidot.com/local--files/howto:add-a-custom-google-search-engine/WikidotGoogleSearchHosted.scr1 width="99%" height="200" ]]

dakkon03, you have solved the issue, so you possess the answer! What exactly did you change in the CSE settings (the CSE settings - just what Helmuti_pdorf paid attention at, above)? Any screenshots would be highly appreciated.

Aha, well there are various options but the gadget used to work in default settings, without setting anything specific.

I looked carefully at those options, though, since the time this problem occurred and I did not notice anything to seem to solve the issue.

I am not very much into the CSE technology so I may have missed something, but as I already said, it used to work without any changes in the default settings.

I always thoght there must be an "account" ( and its settings) at google itself to use a specific service from them?
( I can remember with the adsense accoutns there are a lot of formatting issues ( length , color, positin and so on) for your wishes of embedding a code…

If it is so - than the change must be done by the "sending" ( or embedded) service -

I hope this makes my idea it clearer?

(could be the script text is worng- the width is formating ok , but the height is not…)

Yeah, I see the result - :) - the box is "large" for only a moment - than the gadget definition from google overwrites it…

Could be there is a "format" settings on the google account to change this ?

When I enter a search phrase into the CSE gadget the results do not display on a whole page as they used to; they display only within the area of the gadget!

That is, once you hit enter, the results would appear if you scroll the mouse within the area of the CSE gadget.

My gadget is on this site: ebookbg.wikidot.com and the problem appears on IE, Firefox and Opera alike. I've noticed another CSE, embedded into Wikidot, has the same problem: http://community.wikidot.com/howto:add-a-custom-google-search-engine.

Is it because of Google or because of the way Wikidot interprets the CSE's code (Google have changed the code and the problem has been persisting since then, maybe it is no longer compatible with Wikidot)?

I have informed tae Google support for this problem (http://getsatisfaction.com/google/topics/cse_gadget_results_not_shown_on_a_whole_page) but seen no reply yet.
