Hi !
I do jnot wont to insist on the gu.. :)

But in fact there is the problem, that any user of wikidot has to have a REAL email adress reachable by the wikidot.system.

And: the "real" user should know they are member of a (for them) "unknow" system - they will detect that someone has given her email adress into an internet system (without their permission perhaps!).

Than it is time to inform the users of the fact, that some one has put in thei private mail adress into a system.

This is neccessary anyway in a "legal" environment - you can not play with their user-names as long as you wish…

Sorry, but this near a legal requironme´nt I believe.

And: I have never tested this….

Regards
and I hope your users will not be too angry about such "privatism" on a "public" system…

Helmut

Hi Helhut,
Nice to Read your pleasant replay, I think I’ve called you « GURU » too early ;-). Unfortunately your solution seemed so clear to me that I did not check it immediately; in fact when you change the e-mail wiki dot ask also for a verification code… sent to the new mail address. And so I’m done.
Any idea Gu… (“Ru” next time)
regards

Hope I do understand ?

You cannot create as an "admin" any account for other…

BUT: If you want to create THEIR accounts ( simulating theit keying in..) - than it is a possible way:

You need:

a) to KNOW THEIR wanted "user-Screen-name" and

b) to have a "free Email adress to work within the creation-phase. (You cannot use your own email adress - this is your own login name)

0. Step zero: logoff from your own account. You are no longer working under your own name…

1. First step: create with their own wanted User-name and YOUR "second, free" Email Adress the account itself.

2. Acknowledge the email and password you have gotten and used on "this second" email adress.

3. change the password what ever you want.

4. CHANGE THe used second EMAIL-Adress in the account settings to the "Original user email" adress.

5. Send the "Password" and "Login-name" (=email-adr.) and "User-Screen-Name" to your new member…

- this should free up your used second email adress again - I hope so!

EDIT: do not forget to logoff as the "forign member"…

It seems that I have a lot of computer-disabled people in my group. These guys are not able to create their own accounts mainly for the reason that they close the window before getting the secret code e-mail (I have to admit that this part of the procedure is not user friendly) Can you suggest me a method to overcome this problem ? do I have a way to create these accounts by myself as an administrator?
thanks in advance.
