ads are only displayed on pages which are not too short. Displaying them on short pages would be not effective (and would lower the $$ per click factor).

I realize only now that this is a little problem for me; the reason is that my new wiki (http://shortpedia.wikidot.com/) is based on shortness!
Every page is written with about 306 characters so the ads are not displayed!
Is there any way to change adsense's settings? (maybe only I can have a good number of visitors/contributors?)

You may be simply be someone who wants to access information that happens to be hosted on wikidot's servers. Wikidot provides you with lists of the wikis that it hosts and a search engine that will chase down your questions.

Usually you arrive at a wiki here by entering a search question into Google, Yahoo or another search engine. You probably won't notice that that wikidot is involved. The involvement may even be kept secret if the wiki owner choose to have a personal domain name used. (Another courtesy of Michal.)

Wikidot's involvement in getting you to sites that it hosts will be its system for making sure that any public wiki that it hosts will get the maximum amount of Internet attention.

I used to have the Flannel Ocean theme for the Art Tutorials Wiki. But since the Google Ads also were on a white background, they didn't exactly spring into the eye. But now I've switched to the Co theme, and the ads are much more visible - see here - and the number of clicks seems to have increased dramatically since the switch (though it's still fairly soon since the switch, and thus this might be a statistical fluctuation).

Anyway, choosing the right colors and themes is something you should carrefully think about when you are using AdSense.

The Ads on my site are often in English when I would like to have them in French !

Being able to do that would give more flexibility in plaxing ad boxes without fiddling around with page templates…

In other words, don't quit your day job unless your wiki is the hottest thing since sliced bread. ;)

I realize that no actual Google ads will show up until the account is approved, but the FAQ said that test ads for Wikidot.Com will show up - and I can't see them, either. What am I doing wrong?

Also, does the "However your ad-displaying capabilities are not fully functional" line in my Overview in my AdSense panel refer to this, or merely to the fact that the account hasn't been approved yet?

Finally, is there a way of creating an additional sidebar (for example, to the right of the page instead of the left like with the "normal" sidebar) where it is possible to place vertical "skyscraper" ads?
