I am planning to set up a Pro account which will allow members to create pages. I would like to be able to reward members for creating content by allowing them to place one google ad on each of their pages. My question is, is this possible and secondly is this permitted under the TOS?

When i visit http://ngoglobaal.wikidot.com, as a visitor, i mean not logged in on my wikidot account, there is an adsense publicity block from Google on top of the web-pages , i contacted google adsense to ask how to eliminate that publicity block on my web-pages, becaŭse visitors have to scroll down to see the content of my pages, but they answered it is placed by wikidot so i would have to ask wikidot to eliminate it or at least to place it at the bottom of my pages…

What about Flattr?

Hi,

I think many people reading in this area are familiar with the social payment service Flattr. When will Wikidot allow the embedding of flattr buttons? Many content providers on the Wikidot hosting platform could benefit from that feature!

In case I ever wanted to remove the educational status of my site and add some ads, does anyone know what's the usual relation between visits and clicks?

An example:

I have about 60 visits a day, how many estimated ad clicks that might give per day?

I know the placement of the ads affect but what's the estimated average?

Hi I've made 2 sites more than year ago till this April I've no problems but suddenly Wikidot stopped showing ads on one of them!
1) How to check if it is google fault (on adsense I've no notifications and wikidot is allowed for accessing my adsense account)
2) How to 'repair' it if it is possible?
3) Who to contact with if it is Wikidot fault (no I've no cash for upgraded account so I may forget about it)?

PS adsens reports says that one they I've had 115 ads showned secound just 1! :( it started 5 april.

This is outrageous!!!!!!!!

Google AdSense are just a simple thief!

Now that I reached the amount when I am allowed to put my billing data, they disabled my account for "invalid clicks", whatever that might mean. I have never clicked any of my ads, and anyone who says different is a simple lier! And of course, there is no way to know WHICH clicks were that they consider invalid. They have to "protect their detection system". Detection system my ass. There is no detection system, but random selection of people they are going to rob. And of course, there is no contact data, email, or something, where you can get in touch with someone and at least try to see what went wrong.

Nice way to get free advertising. I don't want to hear anything of Google AdSense or any other Google service again!

first of all i would like to thank you guys for creating such a wonderful service as Wikidot. It is probably the best service out there!

I have a few requests and i need a couple of features.

- how to enable HTML pop-up ? till now i have only been able to pop up using iframe but that does not solve my purpose.

- for adding ads from third party ad networks like adbrite, infolinks etc.

I reallly need javascript on my site, im ready to pay for it..

Anyone knows how Amazon functions? I have the Amazon ads places for some time (and have a number of clicks), but I still haven't earned a single cent… Do they pay by purchase or by click? I tried to look for the info on Amazon site, but without any success… :(

GA does not work well. What is going on? Is it GA problem or it has something to do with Wikidot? In first three days of April I have half less visitors than I had in March, or any other previous month…

As of 2. April, as previously announced, we are changing our Terms of Service so that Wikidot will have the exclusive right to place ads on free sites.

Does this affect educational sites? Educational site is a free site…

Dollars or euros?

I have been planning to ask this for a quite time, but somehow I always forget. It is about Adsense. I it for some time in my site, and I already have some earnings, but I am a little bit confused about the currency, so, here goes the question.

In a Wikidot control panel of Adsense the earnings are in American dollars, and in my Google account, I see it in euros. But there is no difference in amount: if Wikidot control panel shows, let's say 2 dollars, Google account shows 2 euros, and as far as I know, 1 euro is not 1 dollar. Which of these two is correct? Have I earned X dollars or X euros?

Problem associating adsense account

Hi there,

I want to place my own ad into my wiki. I have already own an approved AdSense account (with Indonesian as main language) and want to associate my account. but I keep receiving message "An error has occured while connecting to Google AdSense servers.".

So I went to my AdSense control panel and granted Wikidot access to my account (20%) manually. The request was successfully sent to my adsense account and AdSense sent me confirmation e-mails too. But still, I can't associate my account with my wiki.

I think the problem starts with the main language of my wiki (Indonesian), but I'm not sure.
Also I can't create a new adsense account from Wikidot, since Indonesian is not currently supported and if I try to select English, AdSense will surely reject my application.

Please tell me if there is any solution.

Hi all!

I just set up Google ads for my site to cover the custom domain costs. A possible conflict crossed my mind. Let's pretend that I'll get contributors that submit significant amounts of content which will make the site popular. I would still get all the income from the ads. I don't think that this kind of situation will be likely (1. I've been the major contributor so far and 2. the payment from those clicks are minimal) but have you faced any similar issues to ponder and how have you resolved them?

Another question, what's Wikidot's policy for free educational sites having income using Google ads?

Adsense only shows on some pages

Here's my problem. I have been having success for some years with Adsense on my site. Let me say straight away that it won't be for everyone - it's basically for naturists, i.e. people who like to swim and sunbathe with no clothes on, but it does comply with Adsense and Wikidot policies (checked with support) and was accepted on that basis, once Google Adsense had been satisfied that the site did not host adult content. It doesn't.

The site is spread over two domains - its original one and the relatively new Wikidot domain. The URLof the home page is http://www.barefoot.info. Adsense used to serve ads on every page when the whole site was on barefoot.info, with no problems at all, and still does on the pages that remain on barefoot.info.

Recently I have moved much of the content to a new Wikidot-based site with a custom domain (http://www.capnbarefoot.info), linked to the original site (and the home page remains on www.barefoot.info). The pages that have been relaunched on capnbarefoot.info have been taken down on barefoot.info, so there's no danger of duplication. But ads only appear on some pages. For example, they are present here : http://www.capnbarefoot.info/start and here http://www.capnbarefoot.info/crete:galiniplakias, but the majority of pages, such as http://www.capnbarefoot.info/crete:trahulas-and-matala and http://www.capnbarefoot.info/dodecanese:rhodes only serve up a Wikidot placeholder. Even more oddly, if I create a new page, typically it will show ads when published, then after a few hours they will disappear. (These even happened with the privacy policy at http://www.capnbarefoot.info/privacy-policy).
What could be wrong? Help would be very welcome.

Ads for the correct country

Hi friends!

Some of you know already that I'm managing a wiki site that is an Encyclopedia of all the villages in Portugal, entitled Memória Portuguesa (Portuguese Memory). After one year of experience, I decided to launch a new project for all the villages in Brazil. For that I created the new wikidot site: Memória Brasileira (Brazilian Memory). As you know, both countries speak Portuguese, so it's a natural upgrade of my project.

My question is related with the AdSense ads displayed on both sites. In this new site, the ads displayed until this moment are interesting only for the Portuguese visitors. I don't know if this is temporary, just until the Google automatic crawlers do their job, or if I need to change some parameters to show the right ads. I tried to find info about this, bus I was unsuccessful. Maybe I'm tired or lazy :-(

Could anyone help me on this?

First adsense check imminent

I've put a lot of sweat into two of my adsense supported wikidot blogs, but the ad income has always been slow in coming. Even moreso since I'm in school right now and have been very lax about updating. But sure enough I'm mere pennies away from my first payout. Based on past experience, I'm a week away at the most. And it couldn't come at a better time, as I'm getting ready to replace my aging razr with my first smartphone. I've always been a PDA man, but in recent years, PDA selection has disappeared, and only a few smart-PMPs exist to really replace them, so Windows Mobile here I come =)

I'm actually a little hopeful that having the smartphone at the ready might increase my posting frequency. Not super hopeful, but a little.
