As I can see has someone changed in the site manager the settings of our site profile to "YES" …generating automatically "user:###" pages for every member of this site.
Now this site has hundrets of user profiles - which has "priority" before the global user:info pages of wikidot!

=> Means - if you click on the user-name ( in a post or recent-chages page "author" ) you will get the ":community:user:####" page of this category and not the official one on "www. wikidot.com/user:info/user-name"

I have inserted the link to this page at the top of the user:_template but this is not working well for all user-names with spaces in their names.

Now we have our "old" user: pages with the NAMES ( handwritten) and the new ones - which were included by james in the old pages to save their content…

I was asked from one of the developer to delete all the new "user:#### "pages and to go back to the old status - but this is a lot of work too and we should try to find a better solution for a long time basis.

What is your oppinion ?

( in my oppinion site profiles are not really useful.. !)

A wiki I created for a friend was deleted without any warnings or any explanation. It was a simple wiki for her mother and was being created as a surprise for her mother's birthday. I emailed the support team almost 24 hours ago, but have yet to receive a response. Can anyone else answer me why a personal wiki listing publications authored, a cv, and personal bio would be deleted like that?

One thing I have noticed over the last couple of years or so is that images on Wikidot sites are not picked up by the search engines in contrast to the site itself which ranks well.

For example, a search of Strathpeffer on Google or Bing will list the wikidot site www.strathpeffervillage.org.uk in the top few results. But looking at the images for Strathpeffer on Google or Bing there are never any from the site.

Looking for images from Ed's site with a search on Eagletrace golf has the same unsatisfactory result for images.

Is this an SEO issue which I can fix - something I doubt as it seems to affect all sites - or is there some problem with the way Wikidot handles images with respect to search engines which needs to be raised as a bug?

Dear Wikidot Community

I am interested in asking about your external usage of 'tags' on your wikidot sites, especially those of you with public wikidot sites and even more so for those of you with "popular" public wikidot sites. We already know the great internal tool 'tags' can be on Wikidot for modules such as 'listuser' 'tag clouds' or 'iftags' etc. but are they important for use outside of the wikidot structural use for things like meta tagging your page to optimise search results on Google.

I am wondering whether to tag every content page on my forthcoming music site with the music artists name (e.g. "the_beatles") so that it can be included in Google search result when I go public. As it is in the internal wikidot search engine, I can already easily find any music content page such as 'The Beatles' I that I have created without the use of tags.

Can anyone inform me of the use of tags for meta tag embedding for things like Google or Bing results? Do they help you in your Google and Bing search rankings or are the use of 'tags' on Wikidot really only needed for module uses like 'listuser' and 'iftags'.

Thanks in advance for any feedback

Regards

Ye Olde

This is not the place for ranting I know… The community gives me lots of feedback… well there are the guy's we can count on… and sometimes I am one of them… so thanks a lot. But there was a time in the wikidot-history where the community could tell the wikidot management what they thought was not working well or which things could be modified.

Pieter was one of the people at wikidot who read it and did what he could do to make it happen. I miss his subborness and the way he seldom understood what I was ranting about… but he gave me the feeling that it was possible for us to change things at the backend of wikidot.

The wishlist was born in that era… she still exists but it seems like it is a site with only activity on behalf of the community… so it's like one-way-traffic.

So I wonder… am I the only developer here that thinks that wikidot would have so much more potential if some wishes from the wishlist would be fulfilled?

I AM VERY HAPPY WITH SORTING ON DATA-FORMS!!!, don't get me wrong but I had waited for that for more then 2 years now.

So… I am just a user here, I probably can't imagen what big work it is to keep wikidot going (not improving) so if any of you have any insight on this, please share it with me

Hi all,

I've restarted my project at WME (Wikidot Mobile Editor) and I've decided to go for a wrapped app this time. I'm currently looking for a few beta testers for the app. Here are the requirements:

Have an iOS device

iOS 4.x or later

Jailbroken with AppSync installed (or any method of installing unsigned IPA files)

Unfortunately, I can't afford $99 to get certificates to properly deploy these apps. Non-jailbroken devices will not be supported, but still can run it as a web app in the future.

Currently, there's no dedicated app for the iPad but Android support is coming soon.

If you're interested in testing, simply post here and I'll PM you the details.

I believe parents need to enroll their children into an early childhood education program. There are many reasons why I believe this such as placing a child into an early childhood education program will help the child develop skills that they may not learn at home. If a child is placed into an environment where there are other children, the child can develop social skills with other kids and learn how to work with others. Children should start as early as possibly for education simply because their minds are in the state where they can learn more efficiently. With a child well developed before they start getting into grades will help tremendously because they will be prepared to learn and already have skills that other children may not possess.

Apologies to anyone who is watching the Snippets site. I just finished editing every code: page to clean up the layout. I made a change to the live template that was causing the "Rating" section to appear twice on virtually every page in that category.

I moved the rating text from the user editable section of the template to the template's formatting section (where it should have been all along in my opinion). I also added in a ListPages module that shows other contributions by the author of the current snippet.

If nothing else, maybe it will cause a few of those snippets to be revisited! Several of them are broken by having embed code that not longer works or links to sites/pages that no longer exist.
