I recently noticed an issue with the <!DOCTYPE > declaration in safari browser. I dont see any CSS applied to the page while using safari browser and Xitami web server, but using Apache on my localhost and it works fine. I tried to remove the <!DOCTYPE > declaration on the Xitami web server then the page displays all the CSS but all IE is messed up now. I used <!DOCTYPE > declaration and Apache, all browsers work fine. I don't what the deal is with <!DOCTYPE > declaration, Xitami, Safari and IE. Can anyone help me. Thanks in advance.

I have discovered a problem in relation to defining %%created_at%% and %%updated_at%% within a module on a _template page. You can see here, when you hover over "Customization", it shows the dates of the current page (notebook:1), but when you click on "Customization", you can see that its actual dates are different. So defining those variables in a module on a _template page only shows the current page's dates.

I've tried fixing this by including the module from a different page, but that did not work.

Is this a bug, or did I miss something?

In the _template, the %%parent_category%% variable is working incorrectly. It displays %%category%% instead.

When you add/change the parent of any page, the %%parent…%% variables DO NOT update until you either:

Click Edit/Save on the (un)affected page

Make a change to the _template page of the (unaffected category)

When you set the ListPages parent attribute, if there is no parent for the current page, then ListPages behaves as though the parent attribute was ignored… (i.e. parent="=" and parent="." will still display results, even when there is no parent set)

When using the NewPage module, you can't enter "hidden pages"… i.e. if you type in "category:_template", the NewPage module will instead create the page "category:template" (with no underscore) (feature, not bug)

Page names with underscores can not use the automatic template code (i.e. /edit/true/t/4137338/title/James%20Kanjo)

The parent issues are the ones that concern me the most, because they are essential features of two new Wikidot Applications I've written.

In addition to this bug report, I would like to suggest an improvement with the automatic template system. Instead of using a cryptic URL to identify a page, why not just type in the page in the URL??? For example, /edit/true/template/template:james/title/James%20Kanjo would make our lives much easier… we can create pages using links instead of the NewPage module, and thus the user doesn't have to type anything.

Some Wikidotians may remember how I always refer to code on the wdfiles domain with the /local--code/page-name/# technique, as opposed to the /page-name/code/# technique.

My defence was always “I have experienced times when this technique did NOT work, however the /local--code/ technique was foolproof and always worked”

Today I discovered the circumstances in which the technique would not work. It won't work on hidden pages, or pages within hidden categories.
this was a good idea, but the problem is, for pages that dont have the comment module on them, now you have to scroll down and click on the discusses link instead of going directly to the thread that you wanted to go to in the first place. maybe you could make it to go to the page only if the is a comments module on it.

I'm laying out a page-based forum for a (currently private) site, and I've reached a little stumbling block with commented_at — in that %%commented_at%% works, but %%commented_at|pick your format%% doesn't display anything at all, even for pages with comments. It'll give me the right %%comments%% and %%commented_by%% values, so I know it's drawing from the correct page, and %%updated_at|any given format%% works, so it's not all dates.

But then I tried the code here: http://rhapsody.wikidot.com/test:listpages… and everything worked fine. Apparently I can't duplicate the bug on a public page. I've since tried a few more permutations in the original buggy page, including copying code back out of the demonstrably-working rhapsody site… and am still at a loss.

It doesn't seem to be a function of the page source, and that's about all I can figure.

Anyone else have ideas?

This has happened before to me - I'll edit a page, and when I saved the page, no content displays, only the category template. If you view the page source or attempt to edit the page, the content is still all available however.

I've deleted and recreated the page to no avail. However, if you create the page outside of a category with the same content there are no problems. Its only when you rename that page to the original category that issues arise.

The page currently causing issues is: http://westernweyr.wikidot.com/dragon:damasth

I use Internet Explorer (7, I think) and Windows Vista. I've not had the problem before yesterday. It has happened over and over since then. When I go to save edits, I get a wikidot security error that says something about enabling cookies in my browser (they are enabled) and that it could be an attempt at identity theft. This is of course worrisome. I don't have any personal information on my computer, but I know some people do, even if it's not advisable. Help? My page is: http://dragon-trees.wikidot.com/breeder:whoeverxwins I have used the coding in question (it varies), and it will save eventually. But I don't like the idea that someone could be targeting the wiki site. :(
