See what I mean at fortunz.com

I replaced the main image in shiny with one of my own, to make positioning my logo easier because I'm lazy.

I now have two problems.

1) I'd like to still have a main page link in the general area of where the site title usually appears, even though I've set:

#header h1 a span{ display:none; }

2) My top navigation bar still displays the links from nav:top, but there's no grey bar just underneath the header image like there used to be. To temporarily compensate, I've moved the links up (click here to see what it looks like with the links in the right place), so they appear on top of the header image and are more visible. But I'd really like the bar back.

Here are some of the most relevant changed portions of my css from the standard Shiny.

div#container-wrap { background-image: url(http://fortunz.com/local--files/gallery/shinyfortunz.PNG); background-repeat: repeat-x; }

#header, #top-bar { width: 1013px; margin: 0 auto; }

In addition to changing that width, I also altered all the 140px height references to 139, except for this one:

#top-bar { position: absolute; z-index: 50; top: 110px; right: 0; height: 21px; line-height: 18px; padding: 0; z-index: 20; font-size: 90%; }

Which I changed to 110px to move the links up so they would be more visible until I get the bar back.

I also changed the color of the links in the bar to red, again for visibility.

Here is a link to my full theme. My header image is a png of dimensions 1013x139 located here.

The bar disappeared when all I had done was changed the image, and I haven't been able to get it back since. Any ideas? I'm terrible at this stuff. I'm editing based on guesses of what values in standard themes appear to mean.

Thank you for any suggestions you might be able to make. =)

http://skins.wikidot.com is a new place for the community to collect themes (I'd have used themes.wikidot.com but someone has squatted this…)

So far I've uploaded four themes, all designed for blogging, and derived from the Bloo theme. If more people contribute to the site, I'll add voting and tagging and so on to make it easier to work with.

Using one of these themes is simple: copy the css code and save as a custom theme on your site. Eventually Wikidot may support skins.wikidot.com more elegantly.

If you want to contribute a theme:

Prepare all images and CSS so that the URLs in the CSS are of the form "url(http://skins.wikidot.com/local--files/theme:mythemename"

Create a new theme using the box on the main page, and save the description of the theme

Save your CSS as an attachment called style.css

Upload all your images to the new page

Upload a preview image called preview.png (this is mandatory)

Check that your theme shows on the main page

I've used CSS to style my site, and chosen a dark set of colours to go with the theme of the content. However, when I make use of the Table of Contents (toc) function, the white background color in this crashes horribly with the rest of my color theme. I can't for the life of me figure out how to change this, e.g. to dark grey.

Can anyone please guide me towards an answer? How do I change the background colour of the toc?
If any of you have used Wikipedia in FireFox, you may have noticed that when you click on a number indicating a footnote, the browser not only takes you to the footnote, but it also highlights the same in light blue. When you click the ^ to go back to the text, the footnote number is also highlighted. I like this feature a lot, as the articles I write and the texts I edit tend to have lots of footnotes, and the highlighting makes reading them all the easier. I imagine Wikipedia is accomplishing this via CSS, but I have no idea how this would be implemented. Any ideas?

A friend of mine is a graphics designer and she decided she wanted to play with my CSS theme a bit after seeing what I had come up with. Well she drafted a really neat design that totally blew me away. I'm really excited about implementing it. Theres a catch though. (Isn't there always?)

Part of the design she put together has something similiar to breadcrumbs at the very top of the page, above the logo and login status div. So my question is, how in the world would I pull that off?

I was thinking about doing some complicated hack involving using #header-extra-div2 and the :content tag, which would contain the breadcrumbs since I can't actively edit divs in the header.

The easier way would be to define a div in the sidebar and place it with position:absolute; and building the rest of the theme around it by manipulating the margins of the rest of the elements in the header and somehow using include to get the contents up there to seem dynamic, but still can't ponder out exactly how I would do it.

So the easiest way I can think of would be to just leave a big empty gap at the top where the breadcrumbs element would go, and creating the div to put up there on each of the pages that would use it. Which is very not-elegant. Even if I predefine the class for the div.

Am I missing something obvious here? I hope so.

I'm trying to implement a fix/hack for transparent .pngs when viewed with IE 6, to my wiki.

I know that this fix already works, because I have implemented it on my main site and it works great. It allows you to fix every transparent png with one or two lines in your CSS file, like this:

img { behavior: url(/CSS/iepngfix.htc); }

Every image calls this "behavior", which then runs some javascript that is defined in the .htc file. It only affects pngs when the browser is IE 6.
Normally (as on my main site), the path to the .htc file is something local to the site, i.e. the above corresponds to http://www.mydomain.com/CSS/iepngfix.htc.

I am trying to use this in the wikidot file by referring to the file on my main site, since I do not have a way to upload files like this to a local wikidot server folder.

img { behavior: url(http://www.mydomain.com/CSS/iepngfix.htc); }

However, I simply cannot get it to work. I suspect that wikidot will not allow this, or blocks it somehow, since I know that it works for me with every other page on my normal site.

Any ideas about this?

BTW, for anyone interested in where the hack came from, this is where I got it:

IE PNG Fix Blog

If you look at this wiki here, you will see that I have fixed the width of the content, header etc. to be a constant fixed width.

Now, what I'd like to do is have the entire thing "float" in the center of the window if the browser window is stretched extremely wide (you need a large monitor to test this).

Try as I may, I cannot find any way to do this! I thought to use the body tag in the CSS, or the id #html-body, but align:center doesn't do anything and I can't find anything that does.

Anyone have any ideas on how to do this? Thanks…
