Dear Wikidotians!

We are now proud to announce very important news.

Some months ago, Istorijska biblioteka received an invitation from a Faculty of Phylology (University of Belgrade), to participate as a speaker in a Scientific Program of the 11th Scientific conference Digitalisation of Cultural and Scientific Heritage, University Repositories and Distance Learning. You can see our logo in the bottom of this page.

It has been an honor for us to accept this invitation, because it proved if you put real effort and do something good, it cannot pass unnoticed.

You can see our Editorial Board member, my MA, Miloš Milojević, on the list of Congress Speakers here. Just look for:

Milojević Miloš (Istorijska biblioteka):
Digital and creative dialogue with the traditional historiography: historical example of a library

And I would also like to thank you all for all your help, because without you, this would not be possible. :)

Does anyone know any good free program to send Newsletters? I mean, to have the option to include a link in it that will be visible (not only the link, but the content of the actual page). My newsletters are pretty boring, because they have only texts, and if I inlcude any pictures, it becomes very heavy, which is not good at all. Now, my company sends it own newsletters to our clients using a certain bulk mailing program, but it is not cheap, and besides, I am not sending thousands of mails as they do. But I need that feature because it would be easier and much nicer (an more professional, too) to make a Newsletter on line, with pictures and nice letters, and then only reflect it in e-mails.

If there's such possibility in G-mail (which I use for sending our Newsletter), please let me know, because I've serched for it, but haven't found anything… :(

Thanks in advance!
B.

Hi guys! I know I've been kinda lacking on Wikidot site development recently and just wanted to share with you the sort of site I have been making and keeping me busy: OnTheTube.co.uk

It all started as a couple of posts on my Facebook wall and then a few doodles that I uploaded to my main site (FlamePad). I had been tagging each post as OnTheTube and when I found that the .co.uk domain was available; I thought it was just meant to be!

Anyway, I know this is a shameless plug so won't go on about it but please let me know if you have any thoughts or criticisms. Or maybe you're a fellow London commuter and will enjoy the read :D

Hello, how are you all? :D

Ive been looking around for some sort of ability to create an offline wiki on my desktop. Not of an existing wiki, but one that I can use to organize documents and such when I don't have a net connection. I would be Fsjal if there was a means to do this with Wikidot, since i'm most familiar with it's syntax.

When i was looking around I came across a source forge project http://sourceforge.net/projects/anywikidraw/ called Anywikidraw. I'm actually not totally sure how it works or one works it, but from what it looks, you can draw and edit images right in wikis. I was wondering if anyone has heard of it before or used it.

Do you know of any good desktop wikis? :)

I came into this web page, and I think maybe it should be updated. The languages used are not only English and Polish any more, and I see that the screenshot of a Community Site is very old.

I don't know where to post this, so I post it here, if I am mistaken, I am sorry, but I think that this web page webmasters should be contacted and a Wikidot data updated… Maybe there are more data that should be updated, but I wouldn't know, that's why Wikidot developers (or Michal, I don't know) should look into it…

I just wanted to tell that we have been asked to give an interview on e-publishing for one of the most important radio and TV stations in Serbia, B92. The interview was published on Friday, and this is the link to the article on B92 web page.

Together with us, two sites more were interviewed. We are here the second ones, under the title Istorija on-line and Da li je privlačnija?

The introduction to our part starts with the following sentence:

Iako ono čime se bave tvorci Istorijske biblioteke nije e-knjiga u klasičnom smislu, ovaj sajt je dobar primer kako bi na internetu izgledala istorijska enciklopedija.

Although Istorijska biblioteka is not an e-book in its literal meaning, this site is a good example of how an Internet Ecyclopedia should look like.

This is very important for us, and we thought of sharing our happiness with you… :):):):)…

And I also want to thank to all of you for all the support you have been giving us and are always there if we need a hand… :)

(I hope to have a little time this week to translate the whole part of an interview in which we speak.)

I just wanted to tell you I am very glad you decided to start this project, I just hope to have time to contribute it, because I would very much like to have the Wikidot interface in Serbian.

One question: Providing that Serbian language used two alphabets, it is possible to have translation to both of them, and it is relatively easy to obtain it. Recently, I worked on a translation of a Simple Machines Forum interface, and we did it in Cyrillic, and then passed all PHP files through Transliterator and obtained the Latin version. Would this be possible for some future Serbian Wikidot interface?

PS: Where is the forum and recent changes of this Translate Site, so those who participate can communicate among themselves? Every site needs its Gathering point, doesn't it? :)
