I know, I know….
Many of my users are old and do not want to create an account on ANY system on the world…

Could many users are young and their parents do not want to have them created a lot of accounts wnywhere in the Internet world…

Fact: the account in Wikidot is bound to a unique mail adress

==> I made with my second mail adress ( neccessary ) a little account with user-id like "guest of…" and an easy password (and aplly by password of course) and give away this little "first help" to my personal friends who have never done anything with computers… This works for the first try in our wikidot world.

After some month some of them (not all) detect wikidot and the possibilities… they detect the world of www and 1/3 does no longer need such help… :)

In the ToS are the points:

9. using an identity (account, username, password) of another User or disclosing your own username or password to any third party or permitting any thirt party to access your account;
10. transferring your profile (includes selling) to any third party;

I think, the ToS does not explicitely forbid this method, because the 2. account (most used by myelf for testing purposes) is controlled by myself… I can always change the password and stop any stupid actions of my guests. I believe, this is usable for the learning phase. And I give never away my own account.

But this is discutable …. could be the wikidot team has another meaning of this issue.

mmclean knows nothing it seems. I am not looking to mask the ip address as that is all any css hack will do. I'm wondering if there is a way within the module to disable the ip address from either being recorded, or being posted to the screen( i.e. when you view source it does not display anyone's ip)

if i want people to post anonymously, is there a way for them to set up a "temporary handle/screen name" or at the very least remove their IP address from the post?

I checked the forum:category to use BOTH nav:elemets now ( by using the "_default" setup…)

Sorry, I never dedected this issue!… I think I have overred all messages about the theme.

Could be there was a reason to hide the top bar for the forum category?

Maybe we should put it on both bars since nav:top doesn't show in the forums. And most of the time people spend on the community site is on the forums.

I moved most of the Internals and the Improve Wikidot Part to the Top bar menu..

I think now over the last point - how to show the "top bar" Menu & page for newbees on a direct way… ( perhaps opn the doc & help section… ?

It looks like separate does not make any difference.

I think this, starting from post #post-219591 by Sulfrum, should be moved to another thread with a more suitable title…like "collapsible blocks' id clashing under certain conditions".

All good stuff but for now (19 July) buried inside "Internals" and "Improve Wikidot" could find a better location in a nav:top menu.

Moreover, this community website is supposed to be the repository of tips and tricks for Wikidot lovers and for now this feature is disabled while we have so many inquiries on how populate nav:top sample menu.

A link submission usage is a great idea. I could use that to let my users post their own websites and descriptions. That would increase the community feel of the site.

However, a renamed page from bugs:iframe to fixed:iframe leaves … a broken link from multiple posts from the forum or elsewhere.

Then don't rename, copy the page, clear bugs:iframe and make it redirect you to fixed:iframe. :)

EDIT: how bad this would break the list :(

The How-To consists of just three steps — not sure what kind of step 5 should be documented.

The changes you made to the How-To have introduced a lot of errors:

In step 1: “alternatively, you can also type the following … [[code]] [[include include:list-pages-template]]”

As you are just creating include:list-pages-template using [[include include:list-pages-template]] as an alternative doesn't make any sense
In step 3: "You can customize your Sortable list of pages by changing the default parameters in the syntax

There's no need to customize the default values that are specified in include:list-pages — they are fine. The documented parameters should be used when creating an actual “List Pages” page
In step 4: "create new Sortable list of pages for individual categories by duplicating steps 2 and 3"

Duplication of steps 2 and 3 (i. e. creating more include:xxx pages) isn't necessary. Just a single additional step is needed to create an actual “List Pages” page, like system:list-pages, or system:list-all-pages, or whatever you'd like to call it. In this step you will make use of some of the documented parameters (most likely “page=” to specify the page name you're about to create)

I suggest reverting the How-To to the previous three-step explanation, keeping some of the explanatory text you've written and Helmut's correction.

Any other suggestions?

Hi !

I changed only the parameter in
[[include include:list-pages page=howto:list-pages-sortable | limit=5]]
- from "howto:list-pages-sortable" ( this page does really not exist ! )
- to "howto:sortable-list-of-pages" ( the SAME as the existing page! ) .

Every user should use the same page name ( in normal circumstances the "system:list-all-pages"….

Have a try on the sorts!
